I have a Flowmaster axle back kit, not installed yet, it comes with an AFM hardware kit. Looks like two springs and attach hardware to mount the valves on brackets on top of the pre muffler pipes. They are not in the pipes. Looks like they will keep constant spring pressure on the valves. Saying it wont throw a code. Anyone using this system. I post my results in a couple of weeks.

If even the manufacturers went to the trouble of making fake housings with springs, how come merely removing it worked? Could they have made a change in late MY cars not to run the init test during var startup?

I have the borla atak exhaust. When I installed the system it was throwing a cel. I called borla and they sent me a new set of pipes "before the mufflers ". The code went away upon installing the new pipes. I guess the travel of the exhaust valve was not in the oem spec? So if i just disconnected the afm motors from the pipes but kept them wired, the cel would have disappeared. correct?

I'm still looking for a way to completed remove the AFM actuators since my car is tuned not to go into 4 cylinder mode, even when in ECO (2015 z51 M7).

I agree that some type of plug in resistor could be made to trick the system into thinking the AFM actuators are intact. I'm assuming that the actuators provide a feedback to the ECM indicating they are there. If a small resistor could be made to copy the actuator's signature, then they could be completely removed without tripping the CEL ... or am I way off in lala land here?
