Magnetic ride control worth it?
Corvette faithful, please forgive me if this is covered to death already, but I putting together the first cut at the options list for a C7 and wondering what magnetic ride control is like in a vette. I can understand it stiffening things up as you go into sport mode, but does it smoothen out the ride in touring mode?

Thank you for responding, I have searched and couldn't find mag ride control easily atleast. A pointer to an appropriate thread would be most helpful. As I search the web, many cars at dealers dont seem to come with it.

Thanks for the info, especially the link to all the other discussions. Based on browsing through the material my sense is that if one opts for the z51 package and a reasonable ride is still desired for daily driving it is almost a must have. If someone is going for a basic version and wants the smoothest ride possible, as it was put most eloquently, turn the **** to "wife" mode then get MRC in the base model as well. I am of course looking for the best of both worlds that may not be attainable, caddilac mode and sporty mode. Having a car smothen out rough roads sure would be nice.

Also, a Z51 without it rides very stiff and choppy if the roads you normally drive on are rough or have small pot holes like most northern hwys..
If you are a cruiser and live in a warm climate, you may not want to spend the extra money.

OP, MRC will not give you a "Cadillac" like ride, period. A corvette with/without MRC will still feel like a sports car (read firm).

Basically if you're going to leave it stock, like I originally said it works well, get racier than that, ie start changing parts, until someone comes out with a tuner, they don't work well at all.

I suggest you head over to the AutoX/Tracking forum and you'll see they say the same thing I do, For now, add slicks, the MRC default tuning makes the car handle poorly, same with sway bars, and springs.

Granted, if OP felt a need to change up an already amazing suspension system for something more intensely track dedicated it would have an effect on the MR system, but from reading his posts it doesn't seem like something he's considering, even remotely.

Just get it !
Life w/o it in the Z06 would be miserable, especially on long highway trips. Life w/o it on the Stingray sucks because I upgraded to Z51 sways and shocks. The upside is that my 27 yr old is now stuck driving it ...............
