Oil pressure 2016 C7
What should my cold and hot oil pressure be? It is 40 ish til hot and then 35 cruising at 70 mph. Idle hot at 28 psi. I would think it would be higher. Your experience is appreciated.

The lubrication system also switches to its high performance mode when needed (high load/high RPM operation) and you will see the pressure go much higher when this occurs. The system is designed to maintain the necessary pressure with an additional safety margin without wasting power creating higher than needed pressure under normal cruising conditions which is the beauty of the dual personality setup. It is also normal to see the pressure oscillate rapidly several times between normal and much higher pressure at cruising speeds not long after startup and this is the system testing itself. If a failure occurs within this system it is designed to default to its higher capacity high pressure mode.
