USB based music files
When on USB, my Corvette (2014) will play the first folder and any song(s) in that folder but not move forward.
If I move all files to the root of a FAT32 USB drive, it plays the first song and cannot be advanced further.
Similar experiences or alternate approaches?
Thank you in advance.
What are you trying to do?
(Side bar) My wife's 2016 RAV/4 Limited will not play USB based *.wav files.
(Son of sidebar) What became of my (2014 Stingray) HD Radio channels? We have many here, and I had them programmed in until we had a firmware update to the infotainment system. Problem resolved: the firmware flash had defaulted to no HD channels. Reset it and all is well)

I will try and build a USB thumb drive today with the music on my iPod. Based on the comments above I should organize it by album? Hard to do because I have a lot of single songs collected. Somehow I have little confidence in Detroit to design an electronic device that will work. (Based not only on my new Corvette but my Wife's new Ford Hybrid).
Took a while to find out what Format the Thumb Drive needs. Chevrolet.com simply gives the instruction to "Format" the drive. Kinda dumb given the size of Thumb Drives these days. Apparently it supports up to 32 GB and need FAT32 formatted drive.

I most miss music when I am stuck in traffic, not moving (99% of all driving here). So my interest in the USB, SD card, my iPod, my iPhone...they are rather academic and for purposes of tinkering.
It would seem to be easy to create an interface where you insert a USB 3.x drive, have your music in *.wav files so there is less loss and, ideally, have the song/album reliably show on the screen.
From American cars, I do not anticipate that being easy. I would assume that my neighbors' 911 or Huracan or SCUDERIA work with ease, but then, again, I suspect that they too would rather listen to their motor then music.
Short story: I took my first Ford GT in for servicing (at 200 miles, the transaxle had failed, 200 miles later the linkage came loose...). In the service line, I was situated between two huge Ford brand City utility vehicles. The mechanic working on my GT, dropped a wrench on the frame and tried to cover it up with nail polish. Maybe that happens with a Scuderia, but I would think not.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I had a Double D sourced Kenwood 890HD system in my traded in 08 Z and it was wonderful. Everything worked and worked seamlessly. BT, iPod, XM, Pandora, Nav, Radio, etc. This system in the Corvette (MyLink) is a mess. Thy MySync in my Wife's (notice the capital letters for the boss) Hybrid is actually pretty good with everything seemingly working well there. For some reason MyLink seems to be a bigger problem. I keep reading of problems with iPods like I had and now we move to the Chevy recommendation which is a Thumb Drive and that apparently can't access all the files.
Can we drill down technically. If multiple albums of xml files won't work what will? I don't mind getting mp3 or wav files even if I have to rebuy them. The other idea is to take some of my CDs and rip off the songs there into a thumb drive but need to know how GM has programmed their system to know what file hierarchy and type of file it is compatible with.
PS: I am going to the General Section and ask the Question to see if we have some experts on MyLink not with Z06s.

When you do a search, don't pick an artist or you may get nothing but that artist.
On a side-note, I've also found that the file table gets wonky if I add and remove files. I'm in the habit of doing a quick format on the media before I add my new media selection.
I hope this is helpful.
Thank you for your help.

From another thread that this question was asked.

Encourages one to listen to AM radio or the static between stations.
Certainly a system that is imperfect.

It's a very cheap system that GM puts in the Vette. For comparison, the unit in the LTZ Z71 trucks is far better.
I format FAT16 then move all of the files to the root (no folders). It will continue to play for hours...........or until the battery goes dead.
I am not disappointed in any aspect of the car. It is an inexpensive fun ride and meets many of my needs. It is the only recently purchased (since 2006) American car. I plan on getting a Z06 unless I opt for a Porsche. But the infotainment unit will not be part of the decision.
An elegant solution but somewhat costly would be to call Dennis at Double D and get another Kenwood and ancillary equipment to integrate into the Z but having to spend another $2k on a brand new $110,000 car seems really sad.

I did not see a purpose for XM (for us). There is decidedly little on FM HD channels (of which we have many) so we must brew our own music or listen to talk radio.
"Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy."
You can navigate the media using the center display or the steering wheel controls. Faster is to select the audio section in the center panel. Then tap on the USB (or SD if that's what you use) icon on the left side and it'll open a list of all media on the drive. You'll have options for sorting, like by artist, playlist, song, etc. Pick by song and pick any song.
If you want to use the voice controls, you should be able to hit the voice button and say "Play songname". As long as you know the name of one song that voice will pick up easily, this should have the same results. I just used this yesterday and said "Play Heathens" and it picked it right up. It did massacre the pronunciation, so that was good for a laugh.
You should then be able to hit advance or back and get a different song. If you shuffle, like I do, it should bounce around the media. YMMV

I've found the entire system to be very easy to navigate. Perhaps the designer thinks a bit like I do. I absolutely love how the tree format works for the steering wheel controls.
A menu tree format would be great but I haven't figured out how to build that on my thumb drive yet. I have moved from iTunes loading it to actually moving MP3 files into a subdirectory called Music that is organized by Album. I will see if that works better.
