Default New X-pipe or mufflers?

Looking to make my '16 Z51 M7 with NPP sound more aggressive. Want a deeper tone as well as louder. Dont want to jump into headers. On the SRT Challenger I just got out of, I had a 3 inch cat back w/o an x or h pipe with Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers ( full size mufflers, not the mini super 10 ). I like the sound of straight pipe instead of x or h. A little choppier of a sound. I know they don't make aftermarket straights, but they have the cat delete x-pipe. Can't really tell by the you tube videos on how louder it is.

Secondly, are the aftermarket mufflers with non-NPP louder and deeper than the factory NPP? Can a non-NPP system be put on a NPP car? If pulling the 42 fuse kills power to the valves and no CEL is set, then having no valves should be the same. I realize this motor and exhaust set up won't sound like my Challenger did, but trying to get close. It's a Sports car and not a muscle car, and I get that. Just miss the rumble......

You can put non NPP exhaust on an NPP car no problem. The question is do you want to retain NPP function? If so your options are limited.

I've heard the Borla ATAK muffler system in person which is supposed to be their loudest system and honestly it isn't much louder than the NPP exhaust IMO. I can't see spending over $1k on something barley louder. However I do plan to get an X Pipe that deletes the secondary cats. Should help with sound for MUCH cheaper.

I have the Borla atka with NPP on my c7 with LT headers with only the racing front cats 3 inch x mid pipe.

With all of this done and chged out and on the car. My car is not much louder than the stock set up until you put your foot down on it. But even then not that much over the stock.

If you are wanting really loud but then on saying that it don't sound all that loud. Cut and put in just pipes and get the mufflers out of the car all together. Just leave the NPP hooked up in place and get the black tie's and hang them up under the car hook up.

If you look at a DIY in here a forum member has a how to do on it with a sound clip also. But it is really not that loud to me to not having no mufflers at all under the car... Hope this helps you on want you are wanting to do with the car. Robert

I think that's where I am going to start. Sure it's about the volume, but has to sound good as well. Not to concerned if NPP works or not. Loud all the time is ok with me. The ATAK on other makes of cars is a dramatic change, not to much on the Vette.

A secondary cat delete X-pipe is a great way to wake up the stock exhaust.

I have only heard disappointing things from aftermarket mufflers in general (for people switching over from NPP). because the NPP is probably 80-90% of what you get from a aftermarket muffler.

With that said, i would probably do a X pipe AND new mufflers to get every bit of sound. If you are looking to do one or the other, i would do the X pipe.

If the open NNP value is not loud enough for the OP......

As above, removing the secondary cats could be a good first step.
X Pipes, at least for me, don't necessary change the tone or add loudness to the system.

Header system, high flow cats, x-pipe, OEM NPP mufflers may be the true answer.

Good luck.

C7 Over axle pipes are reduced in size at the valve, some aftermarket mufflers are 3' with no valve reduction in size, this should increase sound and maybe a slight bump in power. The stock pipe diameter are 2.75" and reduced down smaller at the valve.
