Default 18 or 15 inch set up?

I should be around 850 or 900 rwhp next year. I am trying not to change brakes and looking to first go 345/35/18 putting a mickey thompson street ss drag radials. Will that set up work? Or should I run a 15 inch? The car is designed for roll racing. Half mile and mile events fyi..

If the car is a z06 yes that tire will fit with the correct off set rim. If it is not a z06 car are the sport it will not totally fit under the rim.

On a roll race car no way would I put a 15 inch rim set up on the car. I would go with the 18 inch due to on the 15 inch rim these dam cars you will get your azz end of the car going from side to side like crazy with that tall of a side wall in the 15 inch set up.

Now on a 1/4 drag race car YES 100% go with a 15 inch rim set up. I chged out on my c5 from a 18 inch rear set up for the street car, to a 15inch set up for the 1/4 r 18 miles track car.

Even on a roll race car on a what looks like a good level road on a 15 inch set up every little bump are what ever in the road will make these azz end move from side to side like crazy.

In the c5 I had a 427 RHS motor with a F1X blower set up in the car. I had it build for the 1/4 mile only put the LG spindles on it with weld bead locks in 15 inch. I ran a M&H D/R in the rear but you will not want that in a roll race car. With the 18 on the rear I ran a 345x MT DR tire on a CCW 500sp 13 inch rear rim. These really done good on the street.

Man good luck with your set up.. Robert

That 18 Mickey size will not fit perfect if lowered and will be squirreley at anything over 100mph... just an FYI

What kind of tire pressure were you running when they'd get squirrely over 100? I'm also thinking of trading my 20's for 18's and want something that will perform well in the half mile. The Toyo R888 I have on there now performed great and tracked perfectly. Looking for more power I'd like to get more sidewall now though.

same reason I bought them. Ran 20lbs, 30 and 35 all sucked. Buy the R888 for half Mike. I'll save you my **** troubles. Learn from me.

I also have the r888 18,s on my c7 now and been over 145 mph runs like on rails.

Now 15 inch in the c5 with a M&H are a MT DR on it with full of air if the road was just a little bumps are any thing like a very small dip in the road. The azz end of the car got squirrely as crap bad at any speed over 90 MPH. Also the speed got higher the rear end got worse. Robert

I've only done one event and my best was 164. I'm hoping to get more done and creep closer to 180 in the half.

Robert are you running the 305/35/18 R888? I think a lot of people run the taller Mickey in the 305/40/18 which around a 28" tire. I play around at the quarter and street too so of course I'm looking for the diamond in the rough that doesn't exist that is good at all 3. So far, the R888 has been close though except the quarter since I got the car back, but the temps have cooled down quite a bit too.

Does anyone know anything about the Toyo Proxes TQ drag radial? I've never seen this in person and just ran across it on the Toyo site. Maybe this would be middle ground between the R888 and the Mickey. It's 315/35/18 and measures 26.8" tall.

Yes the 305 35 18 R888 I have not gone crazy with this car like I did the c5. So for now this is it only every bolt on to the motor & port wk now but no blower yet until this winter. Then will only go with a v3 small blower to hit 650 rwhp and call it a day with the car.

Yeah, I was done at 550rwhp NA and that's why I went with the 20's. Now I'm 750+ and only had the car back a few weeks and want more after doing my first half mile.
It's an illness. haha.

Man it really is a sickness for sure. If you really get into it, it is worse than being on drugs. I mean it will take all of your spare money making you look back and say where did it all go to.

I pushed almost 1200 rwhp in the c5 broke it all down sold all of the parts. I almost had enough to pay for the c7.

if you have that uneasy feeling on DRs first thing you want to do is get the run flats off the front. they are part of the problem and are very heavy to boot

second thing you can do, and this one is more important for 15's with the trouble, is go to a skinnier front tire or smaller diam. front rim.

if the front and back do not play nice together you will have trouble.

its not the rear tire or brands fault or just some 'crazy' tire issue.. its your combination

i like my 19" mt ss tires 1.46 60' so far
