Backstory: I have an EFILive V2 and thought I had used up my licenses. It appears not.
So I read out my stock tune and browsing through it, I can see several E85 tables in the fuel folder are already there. In the Flex Fuel folder I see a few parameter changes that would enable this (provided I have the sensor installed).
Are there any other changes that would need to be made? I'm not looking for a "tune" tune, just enable E85. Or will the E85 tables need tuning because they're configured for the 5.3L L83?
Inquiring minds (well mind) would like to know. Or help a brother out?
I'm not sure I understand by what you mean to "set up". I'm already seeing most of those tables you mention for E85/Flex Fuel. (probably don't know where to look for the remainder.)
I was under the impression that adding the sensor and enabling it in the ECM was sufficient.

Is that not the case?
Correct, that is not the case. They are not set up in factory form just because they exist. You have to properly alter the numbers inside the tables.
There are Turbocharger tables in there as well, but you have to do more than just install a turbocharger to make it work right.
Think of those tables like blank buttons on your dash. You know there's cars out there that use them, just not yours.
You need to add the GM flex fuel sensor
Pin it to your ECM
Have someone with HP or EFILIVE enable the flex fuel option in your stock tune
Have the same tuner enable all the diagnostics that report any DTC's if you have a problem within the flex fuel sensing or any part of the system
After that the E85 system will work--It will self adjust both fuel and spark timing according to whatever mix of ethanol you happen to have in your tank---No other adjustment will be needed to compensate for any mixture of ethanol a well as returning back to 100% all gas----
PS: just as in gas tuning the E85 tune in your ECM is conservative----So yes you can have a tuner do some tweaking to gain even more HP from the base E85 tune--

The American Coalition for Ethanol ran a 2000 Chevy Tahoe, without flex-fuel capability, exclusively on E85 (a mix of 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) for 100,000 miles. Then they stripped down the engine and took a look. Everything looked fine. Fuel lines, fuel pumps, etc. In fact, they say a few things looked better than normal. The included video includes a look at the parts of the engine from that Tahoe.
(Quote is from some internet Blog..take with a grain of salt) but possibly verifiable!
