Quick question for the folks that have installed their own x-pipes. Would the 10" lift from a set of Race Ramps be enough to get under the car to install a Borla x-pipe? I don't mind working in close quarters, but I don't want to buy the ramps and find out I don't have the room to do the job. I could go with jackstands, but driving up it on a set of ramps sure sounds a lot easier.
what i did was, i used 4 jack stands but put my 4 gorilla ramps under the tires in case of a failure. i think just on the ramps may have been too small of an opening.
PS you can get 4 jack stands from harbor freight for about $28

Yeah, that's what my worry is. I seriously hate putting a car up on jackstands, but I am starting to think that might be the only way to get enough angle to work those pipes in and out.
As always, I appreciate everyone's input. I don't post a lot - but really respect the trove of knowledge in this forum.

i'm not a fan of going under there either, whether on stands or ramps. In addition to the 4 jack stands and ramps under the tires, i also left the jack under the front (not weight bearing but up against the crossmember) as a third precaution lol
10 inches of lift on ramps is plenty if front and rear are being used. Just put a floor jack under the center of the front crossmember with a short 2x4 to spread out the weight. I would just start to jack the front crossmember a little so there is just a touch of pressure on it and it will not move.
I know you want to do it yourself but check around. I found a local muffler shop that charged me $50 for my Borla X pipe. It wasn't even worth me spending the time to jack it up and do it myself. Just food for thought

No one can swap the xpipe better or more careful than yourself (unless you have zero skill). And to pay my self $25.00 per hour and not have to waste time driving to the exhaust shop, wait for the car, hope no one damages the car, be there at a specific time etc etc. Just walk out my door and do it.
I have installed two x-pipes with C7 on jack stands, very easy to do. Only problem is little room to pull and hold x-pipe level while pulling forward to disconnect from rear. I would recommend unbolt all, just like instructions tell you. Put jack under x-pipe with handle toward front bumper then jack up pipe level. ratchet strap stock pipe to jack then simply pull jack and pipe forward from front of corvette.
If installing used x-pipe remember you must get a tube expander and expand pipe where clamp was. Also once you unbolt front of stock x-pipe remove donut gaskets and put aside, you can easily damage them while trying to remove pipe. Use lube on rubber hanger, I have seen them rip with not much pressure at all.
