Default Have you removed your seats?

I have an opportunity to trade my heated and cooled GT seats for a set of non heated and cooled competitive seats. I am willing to do the deal but wondering if the harnesses are different in the cars or--if they are the same. More importantly with this deal I just want to be sure that either seat is plug and play in both cars. Also outside of the harnesses and the nuts that mount the seat. anything to be aware of I realize there are airbags in each seat so want to make sure I am not opening up a can of worms

Removed mine (many times) to install racing seat. No sweat. All you have to do is:
1. detach the electrical plug under the seat (There is a hinged plastic retainer that must be pushed to the side),
2. detach the seat belt where it attaches to the seat mount on the outside (just pop off the plastic cover and use a torx wrench to unscrew retaining bolt)
3. unscrew the four floor bolts in each corner.

I think there may actually be a you-tube video on this if I'm not mistaken.

When your race seats are installed does the airbag light come on?

I'm about to install race seats in mine & would prefer the light to not be on... (dont give a crap about functionality) and I know that there is an airbag simulator thing for the C6 vettes but havent seen much for the C7.

Why not just convert the GT seats to Competition Seats? A little more work and cost but it would mean improving the car Vs degrading the seat features. I know if I was a subsequent owner of the car a few years from now and I missed the fact the seat heater/cooler didn't work when I purchased but due to the being cobbed up by a PO it wouldn't be an easy or low cost fix such as replacing a fuse.

The dash display shows an airbag warning each time you start the car. You just hit the "select" button on your steering wheel (for "dismiss") and it goes away.

Trust me Bill that is a consideration. Here are my pros and cons if it matters.

Pros:
-I live in Cali. Heated/cooling seats are cool but not of any sort of necessity. I still have not used them
-I want suede inserts and the Comp seats have them. I would have to change bottoms as well to get this feature.
- I can get the seats I want for a few hundred as opposed to $2000+

Cons:
-I have to drive a few hours
-I lose heat/cool

Just curious...did you guys disconnect the battery before removing the seats?
The air bag deployment is of concern.

I have to amend my last response. There is another airbag dash display that doesn't go off. I never noticed it until tonight. It's a red symbol near the speedo. It really doesn't bother me but might be significant to others.

Just connect a 5 or 10 ohm 5 watt resistor across the 2 connector pins that the seat airbag was connected to : No more airbag warning light.

Has anyone tried that on a C7
I've heard of doing that on a c6

does anyone make a plug that I can just shove in there yet just to keep the light off
