Default AMT Motorsport Upper Control Arm Stud Kits for C7

AMT Motorsport Front Upper Control Arm Stud Kit

AMT Motorsport is happy to announce the arrival of our Upper Control Arm Stud Kit for all C7 Corvettes.

These studs replace the stock M10 bolts that attach the front upper control arm dogbones to the frame of the car. The kit includes 8 studs, nuts, washers, lockwashers, and Blue Loctite to set the studs in the frame of the car. All parts are grade 10.9 metric hardware and yellow chromate coated for corrosion resistance. You can of course buy a second kit to outfit both the front and rear of your car at a reduced price.

We just whipped up 50 of these kits and they're in stock and ready to ship. Pricing is $55 for one kit or $100 for 2 kits. Shim packs are also available on our website as well.

I'll also extend a 5% discount to all of the C7 Corvette Forum Supporters. Just enter code "C7Forum" at checkout to save 10% on your order.

Benefits of using Studs

-Less wear and tear on frame of car
If you're using shims on your upper control arms to adjust camber, you're torquing and un-torquing your factory bolts eveytime you make an adjustment. This puts a lot of stress on the factory bolts (easy to replace) but more importantly the threads in the frame (not so easy to replace). By using permanently mounted studs there is no longer wear on the threaded frame inserts from constant use

-Much easier adjustment of camber shims
Biggest reason people run these studs is to be able to easily replace and adjust upper control arm shims for camber gain. Whether you're using the AMT Motorsport Camber Kit or anyone elses, upper shims are a popular way to adjust your camber. These studs make it a much easier process to manage.

-Do I Need This?
Realistically, only if you loosen or tighten your upper control arm bolts on some sort of regular basis. This kit doesn't make much sense for a bone stock car that never gets adjusted for camber for street and track settings. However if you are using any shims at all to adjust camber, then this kit makes sense for quick adjustment changes and less wear and tear on the car.

Please read below for more pictures and product details.

The studs are made from Grade 10.9 M10X1.5 metric bolts. These bolts are yellow chromate coated for corrosion resistance. We machine the bolt heads off in our Mazak CNC lathe and mill a 7mm hex into the end of the stud for easy installation in the frame with a socket or box wrench. Blue Loctite is included with every kit. A few drops of Loctite should be applied onto the bottom 1/2'' of the stud and inserted into the frame. After 5 minutes the Loctite starts to harden and the rest of the install can be completed.

The studs themselves have 50mm of thread length, so they can be used with any dog bone thickness available (whether stock bushings, poly bushings, or thinner spherical bushing dog bones) and as many shims as are realistically needed.

All hardware is also 10.9 Grade yellow chromate coated. Nuts, lockwashers, and a heavy duty washer (not shown) are included to make installation secure on all sized dog bones.

As always thanks so much for looking and please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

Great Idea! Just ordered some for my rear. My bolt holes were starting to wear out some after having to pull the rear suspension down many times.

This is a great kit, and AMT Motorsport ships fast and has great customer service!!

I installed this stud kit on my C7 Z06, and I'm looking forward to the soon to be released C7 camber kit.

The steel framed C5 and C6 had the rear Upper Control Arms attached to the frame as in the picture below. It used bolts installed longitudinally through mounts welded to the frame - so you couldn't use studs like in this kit in the rear:

For the front UCA's of steel frame cars, but on the aluminum frame C6's and ALL models of the C7, both the front and the rear use "dogbone" type mounts that are bolted directly into the frame, as in the picture below:

So, you can see that each wheel has 4 bolts holding the UCA to the frame, and the AMT studs will replace those bolts so you won't strip the threads in the frame if doing a lot of adjusting during alignments - washers or shims are used between the dogbone and the frame to fine-tune the camber.

Each AMT Motorsport kit has 8 studs, so I needed 2 kits in order to replace the bolts on all 4 wheels of my C7. They are an easy installation - here are a couple pictures of my left side installation.

Below is the left rear with the AMT Motorsport studs installed - and you can see where I cut a 1"x1" square hole in the wheel well liner in order to stick a long ratchet extension through it to take out the rear OE bolt and then install the stud, and it will help when I loosen the nut on the stud when making camber adjustments in the future:

And below is the left front with the studs installed and some shims I installed behind the dogbone:

Bottom line - I really like the AMT Motorsport stud kit!!! It's really nice hardware, and just remember that if you want studs on all 4 wheels of your C7, you'll need 2 stud kits.

I know their camber kit will be first-class as well, and I'm looking forward to it to lock-in the Lower Control Arm attachments to avoid any possibility of the OE eccentrics/cam bolts slipping and allowing alignment to change while driving aggressively on the track.

Kit is shipping today FedEx 2nd Air. Upgraded the shipping for you since I was a day late - had to get some sexy instruction booklet printed. Thanks again!
