Default Rear diff Spider Gear broken

Apparently, I sheared the spider gear in my rear diff. I have a base M7 C7 making 620/775whp.

I did this on a 30mph roll at the track. They had a portion of the day where we were doing roll races.

How much power are you guys putting down on the stock diff? I know that RPM trans will soon offer an upgraded one, but it's costly. I'm rebuilding the stock one. No more digs for me for now.

Seems to me they aren't holding up too well after ~740whp. That's next up on my list to replace as I'm sure mines going to bust before too long. I think I read a lot of people are upgrading to the C6Z diff? Unless I'm mistaken.

I will wait until RPM comes out with a set up for putting the 4 small gears in the case with a 3:42 gear set up. With the weak 2 only set up will stock set up just not hold power to these Level. Robert

I don't do dig racing either, I was doing a roll. I was running MT ET street drag radials though with only 20psi tire pressure. It didn't spin at all.

From what I heard from RPM, the upgraded one will be out in a few weeks and cost $1500.

That is cheaper than the one vendor in here wanting to put a c6z06 set up in the car by a long shot. This will be on the bucket list. Robert

Did RPM ever get the upgraded differential carriers ?
Also, I am under the impression they will only be for the standard differential, not the ELSD. And from what I have seen there would need to be two models available, as the 3.42 ring and pinion are a different dimension than the 2.41/2.73, requiring something like a spacer or 2 different part numbers. no, Auto also you can get the diff chg out now to stop breaking the spider gears. But no the gear chg yet also I think it will delete the ELSD on it. I was told less than 2 weeks ago gears will ne out are should be in 2 months. Robert

........ my belief that the constant power being diverted from one wheel to the other while traction control is in use during very "spirited" driving (the ElSD applies power and takes it away and the brakes get applied to the wheels individually) could be what weakened the spider gears and ultimately caused their failure.

We do have a replacement for the spider gears, but it does require eliminating the ELSD portion of the differential. We haven't eliminated that on any cars in the shop yet. I know HPTuners has opened up some parameters, so this should be able to be tuned out. If you are interested, you can call either Shane or Jeremy at the shop to get more information.
