Has anyone replaced the battery inside the Key Fob? I think mine has gone dead. I want to open the fob without chewing it up with a screwdriver. 2015 Coupe.
Take the key out, using a broad screwdriver go into the area by the key and twist the screwdriver to separate the two halves. Once that's open a little bit you can go around the gap with a knife and pop it open
I looked in the manual and could not find any information. I missed it. The key end of the fob has several brittle looking pieces and appear as if they could break easily. I found the easiest way was with the thin knife at the other end. Thanks for the info.
I found lots of information about the C6 fob, but the C7 key fob seems a little more difficult. I may not have a faulty fob, however, as the DIC has not let me know the fob battery is low. I may have a problem elsewhere. The device does not unlock the door or let me start the engine. No FOB detected. I have not had time to check it out yet.
Take the key out of the RKE. Use the rounded edge and insert it into the area that the key came out of. that will pop loose a side and then you just work the opening apart to get in. It is in the owner's manual.

Also, here is how to test for the message "No RKE Detected".
After being locked out of my vehicle, I had to replace the #2032 battery in my remote key fob.
So, I figured I would do a step-by-step video for those in need of a replacement too. Enjoy...
For those it might help I broke the plastic housing on my fob and couldn't find a cheap replacement, but Amazon offers these covers that are barely larger and hold it all together nicely...
Just got the message in DIC 4 days ago, battery low. Getting the FOB ( I know not proper terminology) apart per OM is a bear w/o breaking the FOB casing. Slow is the key word & TRY not to get frustrated. When working it apart be sure & be working on kitchen table or such, not in your lap in the recliner! There is a VERY tiny spring which pushes against the release button-for key- & that key release button will fall out also. Make sure battery is POS side down & again, w/o getting frustrated, SLOWLY snap the 2 sides back together. The small piece that is pushed to remove key from body has to be properly orientated or NO GO. It helped me to have the spare standing upright on the table to compare how the small key release button should look installed. HE-HE, Good Luck! PS: The OM also says do not use anything metallic to pry out the battery (could damage circuitry & then it's time for new FOB). Look closely at the metal that seems to run completely around the battery & you will see a TINY gap (round hole) in the metal. I used a blunted toothpick to poke in that opening, then pry up on battery to free it. I wore nitrile gloves to keep skin oil off anything I touched handling the circuit board because it will fall out also.

Excellent advice, ask me how I know. Did mine yesterday in the recliner. After separating the halves, the button popped out and the spring flew, ultimately dropping down between the cushion and arm. Had to take the cushion out of the recliner to retrieve the spring and a fifteen minute job turned into about an hour or more!
Thank you! I laundered my FOB and it would not work. I placed it in rice overnight and it would not work. Used other FOB went to work came home and it would not work. Followed the steps here, used hair dryer on low setting to dry out the FOB, put it back together and it works perfect.
