I don't know why I'm having trouble with this, I can't seem to get the cam phaser to line up with the dowel pin on the cam. I placed the dot on crank TDC and put it in time with the arrow facing the dot without the chain on.

I took the phaser back off with the cam around the 3 o'clock position and put the chain on. One time the cam turned 90 degrees the other times I can't get the dowel to sit in the hole.

Ive done countless ls swaps with no issue, is there some kind of trick to these?
