Default High octane fuels and boosters

I heard somewhere (I'm not saying it's true) that running higher octane in the C7's LT1 will yield more horsepower. Is this true? The reasoning was, the C7's computer conservatively sets the timing due to the low grade 93 octane gas we're getting at the pump. With 100 octane the LT1 can reach it's full performance and horsepower potential.

Fill her up with 100 octane and come back and tell us how you gained 50 hp and 6 mpg

Yeah, I thought he was talking about the LT4 100 octane factory tune. I was in a phone and didn't want to elaborate at the time.

OP as far as what you "heard", you are the very first instance I've heard or read of such a thing.

I am not a mechanic but I would imagine the knock sensor would advance or retard the timing based on the map. The car is tuned for 91 octane. If you are putting in 93 octane it is already off the base tune. Octane is a measure of antiknock. the power comes from the computer managing the spark timing and fuel. BTW toluene at least in turbo cars can be bought at paint store and added to fuel to increase octane. I don't recommend it in a modern car but in my old turbo supra wow much more boost for a given setting

OP: In a stock LT1 or LT4 car you can purchase a flex fuel sensor that will allow you to run a mixture of e85 or regular pump gas. The flex fuel sensor will read the content of ethanol and the computer will adjust the timing tables and such and yes this will yield more power. You have to buy the flexfuel sensor and have the car tuned.

Bought a 55 gallon drum of Sunoco 112 last june. Mix 5 gallons and fill with 93 ultra for my stock 70 LT-1
No issues. Timing 12 degree btdc.
My 70 L46 ( 11to1) ran great on A/V fuel. Also max lead 2000,(lead supreme), mix with ultra 93. No issues there either. 14 btdc.
