Default Vitesse Throttle Controller issue

Hi all.

Car is a 2016 Stingray. I installed a Vitesse Throttle controller back in May/June of last year. Worked great for a few months. Then I started having issues...occasionally at first, then progressively more frequently, to the point where I had to unplug the controller back in early November.

The controller makes the car go into limp mode. I bought a second one, hoping it was an issue with the controller. Plugged it in, and immediately had the same issue. Unplug it, and the problem goes away.

Has anyone had this issue before? I wrote the guys over at Vitesse with the problem back when I was hoping it was limited to the controller, but now it's pretty clear it isn't the controller in itself that's causing the problem.

I'm getting the traction control, parking brake, check engine light, engine power reduced message, and check engine lights.

Your thoughts/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance. My apologies for the really bad cameraphone image.

a couple of issue fixes learned from reading in the C6 forum:
make sure calibration is performed correctly and accurately. Many issues fixed with a proper recalibration.
Also, ensure the module is placed away from heat and other electronic devices.

I haven't tried recalibrating. I didn't consider the unit would just forget its calibration. Thanks for the suggestion.

When it worked well....was it worth it?

I'm ny opinion, yes. Night and day difference in the character of the car. I'm planning to plug it back in and recalibrate as soon as I get back home.

Surprised they require calibration more than once.

I've had mine for over a year and, recently, I noticed I was getting throttle hang when I first started the car. A quick recalibration fixed that. Vitesse says needing an occasional recalibration is normal. It only takes a minute so nbd. :thumbs Oh, and it's definitely worth it - awesome mod. I go into withdrawals immediately when I turn it off.

So to update...just plugged it back in and re-calibrated it, and it's working fine.

My first one must have gone out of calibration. I posted a thread here back in September about it, and got a lot of good responses, but I had gotten busy with the sale of my business and this slipped through the cracks.

When I installed the new Vitesse Throttle Controller a week or so back, I forgot it had to be calibrated, so the limp mode symptoms were my fault for forgetting that.

For those who wonder what this plug and (calibrate) then play modification does, the best way I can describe it is like this...

If you've ever driven an economy car and noticed the car seems very responsive to the throttle inputs...though ultimately it doesn't really go any faster...just seems "peppier" off the line.

This is what the Vitesse Throttle Controller does. It really wakes the Corvette up. The throttle response from the factory is very dull...probably to keep people from ending up in ditches. The throttle controller makes it respond more like the non drive-by-wire muscle cars many of us are familiar with. Sharper, much more aggressive power delivery.

Agree completely with the evaluations of the controller - the single best mod to the car. For those of us whose foresight doesn't extend beyond the next 3 hours or so, could somebody post again the calibration process? I need to copy it onto a document that I retain, instead of throw away!

Here is the Calibration process:

You need to be on "Accessories Mode"

Press and Hold the 2 buttons exactly at the same time and wait until you see a count down " 3.2.1.0 " then release. The screen will show you the L ( Low Voltage Value ).
Make sure your foot is not on the Gas pedal.
Press the A button, the display will show H ( High Voltage Value )
Now press and hold the Gas pedal all the way down.
The H value should go up.
Press the A button again to confirm that the gas pedal is fully pressed.
You should see "100"

That's it, you can now release the gas pedal.
Turn the car off and then restart the engine.

I've had to recalibrate mine twice in around the year and a half I've had it because of the same issue.

I've recalibrated the module exactly as instructed above and everything works as it should except the 'Check-engine' light won't go out after that very first initial fault. (The CEL has never "recovered" and operated normally since the first "Engine Power Reduced" message.)

Any suggestions, please?

Thank you.

Usually the Check Engine Light goes away after 5 restarts, if it still persist, I suggest to have a code reader to find out what's wrong.

Works fine now. Two restarts and the CEL disappears when the entire dash finishes lighting up at startup.

Thanks again!

Manual for new controller says this:
Step 3: When display shows H-.- ( -.- is the High voltage value of your gas pedal), push the pedal to the bottom and press the ****. After you see the display shows “100”, you can release the pedal.

This is where I wing it can you explain this a bit better - push pedal all the way then push **** - what do you do with **** after you press **** when it hits 100 ? do you let go of **** before releasing pedal or after ? thanks

Very simple:

You put the car in ACC Mode

You push the **** and hold it till you see the count down: 3 2 1 0 ( When you see the zero ), you let go. It will immediately say L0.4 You press the **** once and release, it will say H0.4. You will then need to push the gas pedal all the way down and hold it steady, it will say H2.1. You keep your foot pushed on the gas pedal, you will need one more push and release, it will then say 100.

After you see the 100. You can now let go the gas pedal. Turn the car off and you are done.

Having the exact same issue, had it for 3 weeks. Not very happy. I have tried re-calibrating several times and it is not re-calibrating.
