Help, please tell
I found a a leftover Z06 I would like to buy.
It does not have navigation, I am assuming that it has the antenna for on star stuff. Is there a module that I can simply add to just give me navigation interface I don't care about the PDR I just want Nav.
If not it's a huge bummer because I won't buy the car.
To my knowledge, no, it's not a simple process to add the navigation. You could always add an aftermarket system, but if you want nav (and if you get nav, please get the PDR!) I would definitely look for a car that already has it.
Shouldn't be a huge bummer, as there are a lot of cars out there. Maybe not in your town, but if you search online or ask forum dealers I bet you can find exactly what you're looking for.
I really try to discourage people from buying a car they know is wrong for them right out of the gate. Sometimes you have to compromise. When you're spending $80K on a useless toy (let's be honest with ourselves) it might as well be the toy you wanted in the first place!
The deals should also be widespread on leftover cars. Not like there's just that one, honest!

Dave,
I'm not finding many cars out there, certainly not leftover Z06s in automatic, convertibles in Laguna blue.
I did locate a company that has the factory nav. unit that's a module I can change under the dash that will give me Nav,.
One of the other really cool forum members sent me the link otherwise I wouldn't of had a clue.
You make excellent points and I will consider that as I continue to look at this point I have a new car for about 20% off the window sticker which is about what the used ones are going for.
Thank you sir,
Kevin

Kevin, you can buy the module alone, and it's just plug and play. You will need to buy the antenna also. I just saw some on FleaBay. There is a video on YouTube showing the installation process. Seems easy enough.
OEM auto parts sells a replacement radio module with a GPS antenna that has nav. You pul your radio module out of a rack in the drivers kick panel and replace it with the OEM module with nav. You fish a wire and place the gps antenna under the driver dash speaker grill. I have not done it because I use apple CarPlay but I researched the option. Hope this helps.

Thanks gentlemen,

I assume the car is a 2016 or newer. Even without NAV it comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. On my 2016 I have NAV and never use it because Android Auto works so much better. The maps are so much more current, built in traffic updates without XM subscription, and the search is far more accurate. Also Waze is now on Android Auto so you have a choice to two GPS systems.
