Default OEM RTV sealant or just use Permatex?

What are you guys using for RTV sealant on the LT1/LT4? (Oil pan, front timing cover, etc.) Are you guys getting the OEM RTV sealant or going with ultra gray from Permatex? Anybody have the OEM RTV sealant GM part number?

I personally would only use the GM stuff. That has been the best stuff I have ever used. They have been in small tubes or the cartridge style that goes in calling gun. #12378521 for cartridge style. Can't get the tube number till I'm at work again.

I decided to order the large tube, 12378521, since I will be doing a full rebuild and likely will use a lot of it. Thanks guys!

Is the small tube enough for the front timing cover only?

From what I can tell the big tube is 5.3 oz and the small tube is 2.65 oz so exactly half. I just used my big tube the other day and resealed the front cover and the oil pan and had enough left over to do at least 1 more cover (front or rear). Though, be aware that the front cover can't be removed without removing the oil pan or at the very least removing the oil pan bolts that go into the bottom of the front cover (which I don't necessarily recommend).
