C7 grinding / rubbing noise while turning left

Default C7 grinding / rubbing noise while turning left

I have a strange problem guys. Here's the background:
  • 2014 Z51 A6
  • Installed a borla x-pipe this past weekend

Now, every time I made a decisive left turn (such as turning a 90" left at a light, going around a small roundabout, trying to do a left circle in a parking lot etc), I hear a grinding / rubbing noise from the passenger side of the car.

Since it only happens while turning left, it cannot be related to the x-pipe install, correct? Instead, it's got to be related to one of the front wheels or brakes?

However, the reason I am asking about the x-pipe is that I had mistakenly placed one of the clamps of the x-pipe too close to the car's heat shield near the muffler and that was causing a similar grinding earlier that was happening all the time including when going straight. So this new grinding seems like an awful coincidence, hence I'm wondering if its still related to the pipe / exhaust.

Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

Default Just dealt with this

I was experiencing this with my C5. Twice. When the noise was coming from the rear, it went away when I turned to the right as well as when I slowed down. Rear right wheel hub was replaced. Noise started a couple of months later, and would stop when I turned to the right but not when I slowed down. It was the right front wheel bearing.

I solved this folks. Put the car up on jack stands again and crawled underneath to check the x-pipe install (what a PITA, I need a lift!). The x-pipe was too close to the tunnel brace on the right side, and when turning left, the chassis torque must have caused it to make contact with the brace. No idea the chassis torqued that much, that was new to me.

I loosed everything up, and re-positioned the x-pipe and centered it. Thankfully, I didn't have to take apart the tunnel brace again. I re-torqued everything while I was down there too.

No more noise. Thanks for everyone's input.
