Default Transmission wiring harness replacement

Ok, I am just posting this as a warning to those who may attempt. Several of the rear attachments were ripped off of mine in a wreck (transmission fan, e-diff, etc.) and you can't buy the pigtails. So, you have 2 options, replace the whole harness, or cut up a new harness and splice the connectors in.

It seems obvious you'll want to replace the harness. DON'T DO IT! After a lot of cutting tape and pushing things through tight places, you'll come to find out that you cannot free the harness from the drive shaft brackets unless you drop the transmission which seems to require removing most of the rear suspension.

Cut the new harness, make a good splice, then go sit back and have a beer for me and think about all the time you just saved.

If I'm wrong about this, someone please help me out.

So if I have a damaged wire forward of the transmission I need to drop the trans to get the torque tube out in order to free the harness from the drive shaft brackets?

Though it inherently goes against my grain, I learned long ago that splicing can be good!!!

Agreed, but it appears we need to splice forward of the transmission where I don't think we can get access other than dropping the diff, trans, and torque tube.

Or does someone know another way to get at that harness? We could also pull new wires, but is there a way to do that without them being vulnerable?
