Just like the title says. Just picked up a '14 Z51, and I'm getting ready to start going through the fluids (other than the oil, which was changed by the dealer prior to our purchase), currently with 85K miles on her.
I don't have my service manuals yet, and I've got a road trip coming up. I'm not too worried about the M7 tranny fluid, but I want to change the E-diff fluid, as I expect it's the original fill with all the break-in wear.
I searched but didn't find any threads about servicing the E-diff. Anyone have anything I can refer to?
85K miles? At the least, Change the tranny and diff fluid. Not hard to do that. Then you should service the Ediff actuator thingamajig. (it can probably wait. and no, it's not the same as the diff fluid). I'd also change the brake fluid.
What about the electric PS, is there any fluid in that system that needs servicing?
Thanks for the suggestion, and have a good one,
Mike
Do they have to drain the rear to do the actuator? If so, why do it twice? Either do it the first time or wait until you have to take the cover off to flush it.
The differential runs a synthetic gear oil like in previous generations. This is separate from the ELSD. The ELSD uses automatic transmission fluid to control the actuator. I don't see changing this fluid as part of a regular service. It requires a very specific bleeding procedure using a scan tool and special bleeding valve. I would bet most dealers have no clue on this.
The gear oil for the differential is a standard drain and fill.
The eLSD clutch pack which takes transmission fluid is in a separate compartment (driver side) in the rear and has an exterior electrical pump. Check to fine out when it should be changed and you need that done at the dealer due to special equipment I believe.
