Default Engine rev

Recently when I go to start the engine with my right foot completely of the gas pedal the engine will start and idle for about 2 seconds and then it revs up to 4500 {by it self} and then it comes back down to normal idle. Any ideas from anyone. Kind of scarey maybe this could happen on the highway or at stop light. This is a 2014 Model, with approx. 9500 miles and only have used pure 91gas.

You've posted this in the Intro area of the forum. You should contact a Moderator and ask them to move this to the appropriate area for whatever generation Corvette you have.

Based on his posting history, it looks like this member has a C7. Moving this over to C7 Tech for an answer to his question.

Do you have a Z51? Do you have a check engine light? Recent oil change? My Z51 did a similar thing and I found that the dealer overfilled the oil prior to me picking the car up. The overfilled oil, makes its way into the intake manifold where it essentially gets pulled through the intake valves and fuels the engine even though your foot is not on the gas. If you don't have a Z51 (dry sump oil system) then likely not the same issue.

That's cool... didn't know gasoline engines would actually rev up on ingested oil!

It was really bizarre. I would rev the engine and the revs would hold even if I removed my foot from the pedal. In a couple instances it would actually increase the revs to where I had to kill the engine. I was also getting a check engine light.

So when it was all said and done, I replaced the air filter (dealer provided a freebie since they overfilled it), cleaned the MAF sensor, and cleaned the air duct. Has run fine ever since. When it was actually time for an oil change, no way was I going to give them a chance to mess it up a second time. Did it myself and made sure not to over fill the oil.
