Won't shift into Park... thoughts?
I found out the car won't shut down properly, the lights will remain on, etc., until you put it in PARK.
I drover around in DRIVE, then stopped several times but it refused to go into PARK. I could feel it shift out of reverse gear, but it was like something was blocking the shifter from moving into the PARK setting.
Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?
FYI, I took it to the dealer and then.. it went smoothly into PARK!!!
Of course, why make it easy to diagnose?...
Anyway, the technician said there are a number of different solenoids and things in the shifter that could be the problem, so I left the car. If it happened again and I couldn't get it to the dealer, without shutting down it would have drained my battery. Hopefully they'll find out what caused this, but has anyone else experienced this problem on an automatic C7? Thanks for the help/thoughts/suggestions. PDXC7
It so happens that I had a carbon fiber dash installed shortly before this problem. And after I brought in the car I called the installers-- a reputable high-end upholstery and car restorer-- and the installer remembered a screw popped out when they removed the console. The guy looked for it and couldn't find it. He replaced that trim screw, but the one that fell in must have gotten near the shifter assembly and after driving the car, that screw bounced into the wrong place.
I guess that's word of caution when replacing the trim and removing the console.
