Default Ported Heads and Cam

Anyone running Ported and Polished Heads and a Stage 2 Cam?

If so, how do you like it? Is it worth the money?

I am putting on some LTHs and thinking about tossing in a VVT-2 Camshaft and new Heads.

I'm doing a motor build right now with Vengeance stage 2 cam kit and had my heads ported by TSP. Should have it rebuilt and running in a few weeks..

Are you having the heads ported because the cam you're using makes that necessary, or just looking for more power? What extra do you expect by porting the heads over and above just adding the cam? Also, what were the prices for the cam install, and then the head work at TSP? Thanks.

Just looking for more power. Im rebuilding the whole motor myself, so can't provide a cam "install price". I'm hopeful to get an extra 20-25whp over the cam just for the heads. Price for the heads was $900, you ship them your heads, they port them, assemble them, and ship them back. Was pretty nice looking work too if I may say..

If your going to pop for ported heads, one of the best head porters in the business is on the Westbank. Check out my head flow numbers in the Callaway mod thread...

Is the car running any hotter now that you have had the heads done.

It's running at 162deg, with my 160deg stat and my tune. Making pretty good power for only 4-1/2lbs of boost, almost 800ftlb to the tires. Waiting on a coated upper pulley to cure the slip now. It is going to put down north of 800/800 through the a8. Its at 769/790 on less than 5psi right now

I am hoping to be a bit higher HP and probably around the same torque as that with my built LT1. fingers crossed!

I was naturally aspirated with Vengeance's heads and stage 2 cam prior to adding a blower. I was at 550rwhp. It's all still there with a blower and meth now but still loving the setup. No regrets at all and the cam sounds awesome.

A solid heads/cam package on the LT1 is always worth the money as long as you have supporting bolt-ons such as longtube headers and a good cold air system installed. These cars in naturally aspirated form will make well over 500rwhp, still be very streetable, and have the ability to build on from this as well!

We offer a solid heads/cam combination, or just the CNC ported heads for exchange for your OEM heads. I've listed a link below if you're interested in our setup, and I'll be happy to answer any questions that you may have!

I had really good luck on my C4 with a pulley that had slits cut into it, kind of like the one pictured below.

The marketing was that these slits served as "teeth" for added traction, but I think the ACTUAL reason it worked so well was that it allows for air to escape so the belt does not float.

I think you could do that with a drill, though I've never tried.
