0x7E8: P0121 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance (Permanent)
Anyone got any clues?
I got this recently, I have a Tony Mamo Ported Throttle Body (my only mod) and a tank full of bad gas, could this be caused by bad gas or could this be caused by the TB? Or neither?
I found this online:
What causes the P0121 code?
- The TPS sensor circuit A learned range output to the ECM went above the specified voltage difference between TPS sensor circuit B by more than 1.6 volts
- The TPS sensor circuit A learned range output to the ECM went below the specified voltage difference between TPS sensor circuit B by going less than .8 volts.

Bad gas has nothing to do with this DTC code. Either the throttle position sensor on the throttle body, or the accelerator position sensor in the footwell.

do you have a ported throttle body or have you ever unplugged it?
if it doesn't say (Current) then it isn't currently happening.
(Permanent) just means it happened before and can't be cleared by a scanner and will clear itself when the ECM decides it's ok again.

It doesn't say current, only permanent.
I do have the Tony Mamo Ported Throttle Body. I had to unplug the plug to install it. It seems to be working fine when I rev the engine.
The CEL coincided with an audible knock (just one) while running with known bad gas (didn't know until after). Could be coincidence but that's my next question...
If it really isn't related to the bad gas, then I wonder if I should put the stock TB back in. But if it doesn't say current -- it could be a one time thing. Maybe I'll deal with the bad gas and in the mean time see if this CEL reappears ( I cleared it myself ). If it does, I'll go back to stock TB.
