Default Red line on my C7

Tech question.

While driving the car aggressively yesterday in 3rd gear approaching red line at 120 MPH , I went to shift to 4th gear and inadvertently dropped it into 2nd. The car went to red line, tires chirped for a second, when I realized what I did I quickly up shifted. Car drove fine for the rest of the way home, no noise, thumping or power loss. Like it never happened. The red line halo did stay on for a couple of minutes and then went out. Car is still fine a day later with no problems. I know the car can't correct for driver error when down shifting ( knucklehead syndrome) but could there be any damage ? Just curious.

If there was no damage in the seconds following (valve, bent pushrod, any of that) then you got away fine.

If there was damage, it would happen during the overrev and not a day later, is what I'm trying to say. So if the car is fine now, it'll stay fine.

File that in the "don't do it again" and "you got lucky!" files!

There may be a snapshot of the event recorded in your ECM, but if enough time elapses, it shouldn't be tied to any future failure I wouldn't think.
