Have a set of 345 MT/SS mounting on 18" replicas. Ive noticed some slight vibration in the steering wheel above 70MPH so I took the care in for an alignment and just to check all the tires balancing.
Conti's up front are brand new and dialed in, the shop told me the Mickeys belts are separating and its likely causing the vibration. As they balanced them and went through their process he described them as being wavy.
I find it hard to believe both tires are bad being brand new. Is this common with the mickeys? I don't want to risk a blow out, speaking to a speed shop they said its likely the compound and tire behavior.
Might be tough to do now but they since they are so soft I like to lay them on their sides and let them "relax" before attempting balancing. I also paid extra for a road force balance.
A lot of people said they were unbalanceable, or took a lot of weight, or were square, but I think they get square sitting.
If I can hop on this thread and ask if the Mickey Thomsons are solid tires for the street day to day and track? I'm assuming wet road conditions they will perform looser than the stock Cup II's.
I have several post on here about these tires. I swear by them or either I got lucky. I even bought another rear set for when the day comes to replace them. I have Nitto Invo's on the front and MT ET SS Drags on the rear. All Z06 Stock Sizes. I do many events such as drag, autox, and Concourse De Elegance Shows that are hundreds of miles away each weekend. I daily drive my vette as well as often trips from NC to GA so I actually put miles on them rather than the weekend cars and coffee only. I love them. I had them put on, road forced balanced, and did an alignment the same time. My Z06 rides so smooth and quiet. If by chance I get caught in the rain, I just take it easy and not act like a fool. In the cool mornings, I give them a few minutes to warm up before really rolling in the throttle. They heat up fast and remain heated well. Just my 2 cents

Bought a set of the new M/T's 285/35/19 DR's had them mounted and balanced and they where out of round, contacted M/T and they approved a new set, set back for refund and bought a new set. They did not pay for the cost of mounting and balancing again.
