after just under 2 years my Information Display stays on for 15 seconds, then off for 6-8 seconds and back on for 15 seconds. this doesn't stop the radio or reset where the screen was. After 5-6 mins the whole thing shuts down so no radio or anything.
If I remove the FOB from the car for 3-4 mins it all starts over again. Just started today and read about ties being to tight and PCM upgrades. Since it NEVER occurred before and started today I'm first thinking it is the head display.
If I'm asking I porbably should try but.... How do I get to the wires for the information display screen? I have a week before the dealer can get me in with my schedule....
Brought it in they had it for 2 days only to tell me the control unit needs to be replaced and GM has none on the pipeline. Backorder could be weeks...... What was odd was 1 day to flash the radio CPU, the second day to check for loose connections, and then tell me the device is broke but none can be found.....
Byproduct of part swapping world we're in. I would have thought software and connections would have been done first the morning I brought it in.....
After a short wait for the control unit (HMI unit) replaced and everything back to normal.
Apparently before they can order the part authorization is needed from GM Tech Assist which requires specific tasks to be performed to make sure it is the HMI unit that has failed.
