At 90 mph with the Z51 gear ratio you are probably not in V4 mode unless you are going down hill. On flat ground it is too much load and too high % throttle. The programming won't let it into V4. If you go to the screen mentioned above you can monitor it switching between V4 and V8. With my GS at 80 to 85 I noticed the rpm's fluctuate constantly as it tries to enter V4, but can't. This is one of the driving conditions that destroys the torque converter.
Thank you all for the info. Will avoid Eco mode when cruising at high speeds to save the torque converter. Probably don't want to have that particular screen up on the dash all the time to monitor what's going on. Although, since originally posting, I think I've read in some other threads that the A8 cars wants to put the motor in 4 banger mode whether you tell it to or not. Whodathunkit?
I was going to make a similar thread. Now that I have over 1k miles on my Stingray I decided to try out eco mode for the first time (manual vehicle). So on the toll road I set my cruise control to 84, set it to eco and the instant fuel monitor. Anytime it went into v4, it would almost immediately kick back into v8. It started switching about once every 30 seconds, so I took it off eco mode because I was afraid something was going to break if it kept switching like that. I guess that speed in seventh is just too much load for it to think it can stay in v4.
