Default CEL lean code on idle

2017 grand sport

Mods...

Atomic intake manifold

Katech 103mm tb

Haltech cai

Kooks 2" long tubes and cat delete mid pipe

And custom tune.

I keep getting a lean code bank 1 and bank 2 only on idle, before i spend the money for data logging equipment i just wanna see if anyone has any idea what this might be. It has happened 3 times and every single time the cel popped up it was on idle.

I think I got those codes when the dealer overfilled my oil. Oil gets in the intake and soaks the Maf.

Check your oil level or pop the intake open.

First look at the low hanging fruit.

MAF
Vacuum leak after the MAF or intake manifold. Lean on both banks simultaneously suggests perhaps not the manifold, but between the MAF and the airducts attaching to the manifold.

Look in the airbox for any eveidence of oil. It could have been overfilled before.

^^^I had the oil overfill issue too when the dealer changed the oil. Sounds like the OP is well aware of the issue, but only takes a few minutes to confirm and rule it out.

Lmao... i stated my oil level, i didnt dismiss it as a possibility.... so the CEL turned its self off the next day, im gonna pull the intake off the TB to check for oil. My tuner checked for leaks multiple times and said there is no air leaks. But than again i've noticed the revs hanging a bit at random, rarely and only for a moment when it happens, and only when the car is hot. I'll let you guys know what the inside of the intake looks like.

If no air leaks, sounds like a glitch in the tune. Did they forget to turn off some SES codes in the tune?

So whats the max you should fill it? How far above the minimum mark on the dipstick?

Also i have a catch can set up, wouldnt that prevent the oil from getting into the intake?

Well, you list 2" Long tubes as a mod, if you've moved the O2 sensors back away from the OEM location, then the O2 sensors will throw codes because they don't get hot fast enough. When I put long tubes on the C6, I also had a SC but there were codes that I had to have turned off in the tune to "negate" the codes you get when you add the long tubes.

This list is NOT an exact list for the C7!!! It is a list of codes that needed to be disabled so the SES light wouldn't come on because of mods I did to my car. This would be CAT removal. Rear O2 Sensor removal and AIR system changes.

O2

P0137 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0138 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0140 HO2S Circuit Insufficiency Activity Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0141 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0157 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0158 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0160 HO2S Circuit Insufficiency Activity Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0161 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 2
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold Bank 1
P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold Bank 2

EGR

P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction
P0401 EGR Performance
P0402 EGR Excess Flow Detected
P0404 EGR Pintle Position Error
P0405 EGR POS sensor low volt
P1404 EGR Pintle Closed Position Performance
P1406 EGR Pintle Position Error
P1409 EGR Vacuum Leak

AIR

P0410 AIR System
P0412 AIR Solenoid relay control circuit
P0418 AIR Pump Relay Control Circuit
P1415 AIR System Bank 1
P1416 AIR System Bank 2

I'm sure there are folks on here that can tell you what codes need to be "put to sleep" so they don't make the SES turn on when you delete the CATS or rear O2 sensors or put on LTs.

When I had an overfilled oil condition, I also had the CEL/lean code, RPMs would hang and I also saw them increase without my foot on the pedal. Ultimately, my air filter was saturated with oil so I had to replace it, clean the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner, and clean the intake tube out. Once all of that was addressed, I reset my CEL and it ran fine.

Revs hanging might be from the automatic rev matching being on.

Just checked the maf and it was dry intake tube, throttle body and intake manifold also look dry as a bone.
