I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the stock brake pads make so much dust? Do they produce so much dust because the they are crap? Also I am needing new pads soon. I drive my car on the street but I take on some twisty back roads often where I really do use my brakes, id say its just a bit shy of tracking my car when Id o this. Should be street friendly but able to handle some pretty decent duty and rotor friendly if thats something to even worry about. Car is a 2017 Grand Sport 1LT.
Powerstop Z26 pads here. Minimal dust, especially compared to the stock pads. Nice pad for aggressive street with no squealing or squeaking. Initial bite when cold isn't as good as stock, but fine once a little heat gets into 'em.

The stock pads are very aggressive for an OEM pad and they obviously favored performance over dust/noise. They are made by Ferodo which are always dusty, but can handle high heat and some light-duty track use. I loved the stock pads besides for the ridiculous levels of dust and occasional squealing in my parking garage at work.

Another vote for the Powerstop Z-26 pads. I bought my Z-51 in LA and drove north to my home in NorCal. Next morning I am admiring my new Vette, and thinking what a terrible job the dealer did on detailing my wheels. After reading a few complaints about excessive dust I went with the Powerstops, and am glad I did. Virtually dust free and no difference in braking power.
