Default What happens to stock TBs?

For those thousands of owners who upgrade to a ported throttle body, where do their stock ones go?

The companies that you buy the ported ones from get your core back (the stock ones) and then they port those and use those as ready stock for exchange. Rinse and repeat.

I didn't have to core exchange for mine, I still have the stock one and would love to sell it!

Tony Momo needs no core I believe. You get a new ported TB which is factored into the $375 cost per his web site.

So probably you just swap it back (to a stock TB) if you trade you car in...

yes. There are two business models. Either they buy stock cores from a parts dealer, port them, and then sell them to you for an inflated price, or they charge the inflated price up front, and then get your core back and then refund you some. either way works

I don't think any of them are doing core charges anymore.....Tony Momo might be as I can't tell on his web site think you have to call or email him.

I went with Katech. Here are my pics ofstock and katech.

I just got my TB from Tony Mamo, no core charge. After I put it on, I will keep the original in case I have any issues I can throw it back on & still drive while I wait for a fix. Or if I sell the car I can put the original back on and keep the ported one for the new car. Assuming it'll fit the new car.

How much gains are you guys seeing with these ported TBs? Im curious how much this mod would help my Edelbrock Supercharged setup.

They disappear and go to that magical place like most of my matching socks do from the dryer.

Not sure how much hp it adds(weapon x claims 12 with their TB) off idle on my m7 is smooth and overall throttle response improved. Which to me makes it even more fun to drive

I wonder why they did not use countersunk screws on that machined throttle blade shaft like on mine...

So they port the TB and go from the stock 87mm blade to 103mm?

Good question and all three throttle blade shafts are slightly different. My ported katech tb is ground more than yours is what I'm seeing.... not enough thickness to counter sink the screws.
