I am curious to what other members think about the MGW shifter. My 2015 Stingray was like shifting through peanut butter. I was at VIR talking to a fellow corvette owner and he mentioned he had a short shifter (MGW) in his C7. He was kind enough to let me sit in it and row through the gears, very mechanical with distinct positive stops. Ordered one that day........Stingray was gone and waiting for the Z06 transition. The shifter in the 2017 is not near as mushy as the 2015 but I think the MGW has definitely more mechanical and positive feel. Looking for time to install the MGW, anybody have an idea of how long it took you to install?
I actually like the stock shifter in both of my C7Zs but it kept popping out of 5th gear under heavy braking (like the end of the back straight at VIR). The dealer tried multiple times to fix it and I ended up going to an MGW shifter. The MGW fixed the problem and I put one in both my original 2015 and my 2017.
I just installed my MGW shifter on Saturday. I love it! I bought mine direct during the labor day discount and went with the flat stick. Install is easy and the videos help if you have never done a shift kit before. I am going to have the fluids changed next to Redline synthetic, seems to be the next step to that perfect shift setup.
I haven't had any issues with the stock shifter in my 15Z. On track there is little the MGW can do to improve shift quality since in the vast majority of cases all you are doing is shifting between 3rd and 4th. That is nothing but a straight forward backward movement. There are few tracks where you can really make use of second or fifth gears although fifth gear is more usable than second since you are using it to keep from hitting the rev limiter in 4th which can limit your top speed.

Ditto.
I have the MGW shifter and highly recommend it. However, Bill is 100% correct here. I've attended a few track events and used mostly 3rd and 4th, so there is virtually no advantage to having the MGW. On the track, the stock shifter is perfectly fine. Daily driving or cruising out in the rural roads where you use all the gars, the MGW is far better in my opinion.
I found the MGW to be much easier for the shift into 5th on Sebring’s back straight. The stock shifter required a lot more concentration to not bungle the shift and push into the 7 gate.
