Today I noticed a slight "bump" and separation on the top edge of the driver door interior trim panel. I can see part of what looks like a rectangle shaped fastener looking down into the slight space. With the window down I have tried to apply downward force at the bump, while pushing on the panel at the separation but have not had any luck in fitting the door panel back in correct position. Not knowing exactly what the issue is, I have not used much force, fearing I might make matters worse. As stiff as the door panel seems to be I can't imagine being in or around the car when this happened and not hearing a "snap". This car is a 2014 with 13K miles that I bought new and is kept in garage. No door slams or potholes that might help explain how this may have happened. Has anyone heard or experienced this issue?
I will add that there is no issue with the movement of the door glass and the separation is not quite midway from the leading edge of the door panel (i.e., looking at the closed door from outside it's not quite halfway left to right on the door panel.
Sometimes the push fasteners can break/pull out. Try firmly pressing directly over the pin you see (unless its at the top of the door where clips slip over door). You need cheap plastic trim removal tools (about $15 at parts store) to do a good job w/o marring surface of door. PS: Sorry just reread your post about it being the top clips-not push fasteners. You will need to remove door panel & reattach the top sliding the clips onto door to have room to put clips over the top of door. (I believe)
