Default Brake line Question

Do people who track their c7's use stainless steel brake likes or run with the OEM hoses?

OEM hoses for me. Work fine.

AP Racing includes SS lines in their BBKs. I think Poor-sha is using them and haven’t heard of issues.

I think SS brake hoses are waaayyy overrated!! Maybe if you're prepping the car as a track only race car you might like them, but for normal HPDE tracking I think the OE hoses are the way to go.

I had some on my C6 Z06 and had no problem with the install or during use on the street and track.

However, like Bill Dearborn says in post# 4 in that thread snomuncher put up a link to, many in previous generations had that ABS problem, and also many had problems with the threads and trying to get them to install with the main brake line OE fitting on the car.

After installing them on my C6 Z06 I never noticed any difference in braking, ability to modulate, threshold braking, trail braking, etc.

I have left the stock brake hoses on both my C6 ZR1 and C7 Z06 and find braking at the track works great.

IMHO the OE brake lines are very good. YMMV!!

I agree from my perspective stainless hoses don't provide any difference in feel over a new stock hose. I am not sure how old the stock hose has to be before a difference in feel can actually be felt by the driver. However, the actual differences should be explained by a braking system expert so I refer you to a StopTech White paper written by James Walker who I met about 15 years ago. At the time I met him he was a Delphi Systems brake engineer.

Here is the link to his StopTech paper:

I was planning on putting in SS brake lines in my new track dedicated C7 GS; however, the GM manual says that I do not need to do this to get the car track ready. Also, based on this thread, it would seem that I would be OK to keep the stock brake lines?

I swapped to stainless lines when I upgraded from base model brakes to Z51 brakes. Figured I was already in there so why not..
