Yes, I am using the K&N. I have them on 3 of my other cars. I priced the K&N vs.OEM and found they were almost the same price.
I pulled my OEM filter out at 32,000 miles to replace on my 2015. OEM had very little visible contaminants in it so I bagged it and stored it on a shelf in case I sell the car and replace with a newer C7 one day.
The stock paper air filter is the best compromise between performance and filtration protection..
I have seen tests where the aftermarket oiled filter starts out with lower restriction, but gets dirty quicker and becomes more restrictive than stock..
If you shop around, you can get a stock paper filter for $50 instead of over $100. I bought a WIX wa10171 online.

Then you can clean it without spending money on a new filter and you're back to good again
If I were going to stick with a disposal paper air filter I'd go with the BMS, but I'm not a huge fan of throwing things into the trash can if I can find a reasonable reusable alternative. I personally went with the AFE Pro Dry S to balance flow with filtration.
I had such a hard time getting the new filter back in without damaging anything that I am just too lazy to use a filter that I have to remove more often to clean..
I noticed that even in some of the videos, the installer removed the whole air box because it is difficult to get the air box cover back on in the limited space.. I was mainly concerned about flexing the coolant line that runs over the top of the air box too much.

anybody using the k&n air filter in their c7? if so what are your impressions? thinking of getting one.
I always put on a KnN for all my cars. Been using them for over 30 years. I always get louder intake noise and better throttle response. Not so much for power. Just clean the KnN after 50k miles on the KIA. Always happy with KnN. The C7 is a PITA to change. Better to take the whole air box out and chg the filter and put the whole air box back in.
Don't know why some say it is hard or difficult to remove and replace, done it many times without out any issue. Never ran it at the strip with the OEM made in Thailand filter so really don't know if the $104 BMS or the $60 K&N did any think to increase performance. I did not feel any thing by driving with any of them. The times at the 1/8 and 1/4 are about the same with the K&N or the BMS. Wonder if anyone tested at the strip same day and conditions the K&N over the OEM and seen any improvement. I did get a 1.651 60' with the BMS on my base no mods or tune A8 NPP. Your choice.

Dam Im old.
I just did not like how much some of the videos showed they were having to flex the coolant line to get the whole box out..
I got my cover back on with the box in place, but only after putting a soap solution on the box and rubber surfaces of the new filter...
I just installed the K&N air filter tonight and boy was it a PITA! Very frustrating but I managed to finally get it back in. I had a hard time putting the air filter cover back on right, with the new filter in place; as it didn't fit in as nice as the OEM did. The OEM is still good so I'll save that.
Replaced mine with kn. No noticible difference. But it can be cleaned and save money in the long run. Save the stock one. I thought a easy job when airbox is removed mybee 15 minutes.
