Default X pipe question

I was thinking about putting an X pipe with cat delete on my 2017 grand sport for a little more sound. But I am concerned that the exhaust will have the strong oder with just the primary cats. Has anyone had this happen with just the primary cats on?

I smell nothing different before/after my Corsa Xpipe swap. Now, not sure if the guy losing the race smells anything different behind me, but I certainly don't. Obviously it takes a couple days for the oils and stuff to burn off the new pipes, otherwise all good

Agree with Is3zob except that my experience is with Borla X-Pipe. No change in odor & no code issues on 2016.

I just put the Borla X pipe on mine that deletes the secondary cats. Aside from a little extra smell in the morning before the primary cats warmed up, there is zero odor. The Primary cats do a great job. No need to worry about any smells.

sound is AMAZING

No difference in smell. Most of it comes from the primary cats. I have deleted the secondary and no hint of gas.

Contact us for the Borla or Corsa.

We have the best pricing on the forums!

Anybody dyno pre and post x-pipe install? Don’t want to lose HP or TRQ.

Absolutely no CEL for me or 2 other c7 buddies. These are only secondary cats, nothing to worry about. (And I have terrible luck, so if no CEL for me, chances are you’ll be fine)

I've heard +5whp/TQ range, nothing huge but all adds up and with a little more growl! You won't have a CEL since the o2s only monitor the front main cats on downpipes.

As someone else sorta pointed out, you will get a very strong smell of the oils/coating of the pipe for several drives of going thru the heat/cool-down cycles. You'll come to a stop & you or the guy next to you might think somethings burning under the car for a short week or so! I also wrapped mine with heat tape before install & some of the smell could have been more from it tho.

Yeah no problems here either with borla x pipe. You will notice the biggest sound difference under hard acceleration. I also pulled fuse 42 if you have dual mode exhaust which will leave valves open all the time.
