Default Retrofit memory seat function to a non-memory Corvette

What's involved with adding memory seat functionality to a non-memory seat corvette? It need not be full blown memory, I just want the seat to retract to a fixed position when opening the driver's door, and return to a different fixed position when starting the ignition. No need to have the identical user interface and programmability. In fact, a separate manual toggle switch that selects two different positions would work.

Default Seat Memory

At a minimum you should check with your dealer to see if there are different part numbers for the drivers' seat memory modules for the two types of seats. From there you would need to determine if an interchange of memory modules is plug-and-play or if a different wiring harness is used in the different seat types.

If I swapped out the entire door panel for a w/memory panel, then changed the wiring harness, you think that would implement memory?

I don't have enough information about the differences between 1LT and 2LT/3LT door panel wiring harnesses to know if that will be sufficient. However, it is likely that your seat does not have a full-function memory module installed on the underside (or maybe no type of module at all, but I do not own a 1LT on which to perform a visual check). If it does not have a module nor visible unused connectors/plugs to accommodate one, that would be a sure sign that you need additional wiring harness parts at the seat. In years past and on other cars GM used a standard wiring harness and left unused connectors for upgrade options in place but I don't know if that is the case on a C7 with 1LT.

Checking with your dealer for available parts diagrams will help clarify what you have and what you need. The option code for the 1LT seat with 8-way adjusters is AG2 and for the 2LT and 3LT seats the memory package option code is AAB (those seats also have heating/venting option KQV and power lumbar/bolster option AJK). As a corollary, note that option code AAB also involves memory functions for the mirrors and steering column; the seat memory module is centric to controlling these functions as well.

It would be cheaper and easier to trade your car in for an LT2 or 3. These cars are just not engineered to be upgraded with any options. Except for the front camera, home link visor, or rear view mirror, it is just too expensive and difficult, if not impossible. The harnesses are different, the computers have to be flashed can be two insurmountable issues.

I don't actually have the car, this is a pre sale question. Thing is, the difference between 2017 1LT and 2/3LT is about $8000 in the color I want (base stingray). Not only that, but I need only a small sub set of the memory seat function....the ability of the seat to slide forward along it's track until it gets to the predesignated point when I start the engine, then slide back down the track when I open the door. I don't need the mirrors, seat angle, or programmability. So the ability of the seat to stop where I want it to along the track costs $8000. It's starting to look like I'll be getting a Grand Sport instead of a base stingray.
