Default Water in back window channel

I have a 16 stingray. Everytime i wash the car, i open up the back lid, and i have a inch of water in the channel. I found a video showing the back weather stripping. They show stripping on eack side on the channel of the lid, mine doesent have them. Does anyone else have water in the back window channel

It sounds like you may simply need to replace some weatherstripping. I'd suggest going to a dealer's Parts Department and have them check the parts listing. It will show exactly what is supposed to be there so you can compare with what you have, then determine what you may be missing. This is one "service" my local dealer is actually good at. They can print the appropriate illustrated page for you, if they will.

Look in the corner by each taillight and you will find an oblong drain hole. Make sure they are not blocked or plugged up. That might be your problem.

If you are talking about the channel between the raised edge of the trunk and the rear fascia that does get water in it. The weatherstripping goes on the raised edge and keeps water out of the trunk. There are several drains. Two at the front of the channel and two at the rear. Every C5/C6/C7 coupe has water build up in that channel when the car is being washed. When I am drying the car I open the hatch and raise it enough to get a towel between the hatch and the body and then wipe off the bottom of the hatch (raising it as I work the towel forward and dry all the around the hatch and at the top of the halo. Then I work on the channel and use the towel to push water toward the drains and to dry off what doesn't go down a drain.

If you are getting a lot of water in the channel the drains could be plugged with leaves or other debris.

Going to buy an after market weather strippoing for the lip on the body by the lid. $23.00 for both sides, no more water in the channel
