Performance data recorder
Hello I am new to the forum and looking for a bit of info on my 2017 Z51 3LT with performance data recorder and nav that came standard with the 3LT package.
Bottom line - the recorder won’t work and after three calls to the dealer who sold me the car, all I hear is “ bring it on in”! Well that’s an hour and a half each way with bad roads and traffic I would rather avoid....So they put their “Corvette specialist” on the phone with me yesterday and he explained that my PDR won’t work until I get a disc from Best Buy and customize it in my laptop and then install it myself. So my question is this - REALLY?????

Congratulations on your new corvette. The PDR system on your car requires an SD memory card that is formatted FAT32. If you get a 32 GB SD card, or smaller, it is usually pre-formatted as FAT32. The SD memory slot is in the glove box (some people seem to have a problem locating it). There is a PDR app on the main screen of your infotainment screen. Push the app icon and follow the questions. You should have gotten a warning message that there was no SD memory card in the PDR slot. Anyway, enjoy your new vette.

starting on page 149 in the 2017 owners manual is an indepth description on this.
BTW, I didn't have to do anything to the SD card I bought, just plugged it into the slot and within a minute or two it was ready to start recording the PDR.

Thanks guys...Geek Squad at Best Buy knew about this and hooked me up for twenty bucks! PDR now working fine.
Boo to GM Chevrolet, the dealer and the salesman for not activating this before it left the lot.
Twenty bucks to activate this feature and not disappoint an otherwise happy customer after I just paid them CASH for a new $80,000 Corvette...well that seems pretty cheap to me and instead they already have me talking about how lame they are for not even telling me I needed to get this thing myself.

It states in the owners manual that it's not included. I believe it so people can choose what disk they'd like to use. Really not a big deal. Congratulations on the new car. It's a great automobile.

The SD card doesn't activate the feature. When you purchase a computer with a CD/DVD recorder/player in it you don't get CDs or DVDs from the PC manufacturer.
By the way when you take GM up on its offer to attend the Corvette Owner's School for $1000 at Spring Mountain be sure to take your SD card with you so you can record what you do. The school is well worth attending and is something every new owner should take them up on. You have a year after purchasing the car to get the special price.

Thanks for that analogy...you make perfect sense. I was thinking the PDR would work like my phone camera...that is - nothing required except to tap on camera and start filming.
Now that it’s up and running I am seeing sub 4 second 0 - 60 runs with the tank full, settings on Track mode and automatic and just stepping on the throttle and hanging on!
No doubt this will improve with launch control activated and a K&N filter assembly...
Plus I’m about to install carbon fiber front splitter side skirts rear spoiler and hood air intake.
Those should be good for at least a second/10 mph in the quarter mile ;-)
