Programming without a Recognized Transmitter: If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all transmitters to be programmed must be present.

1. The vehicle must be off
2. Remove the key from the transmitter and insert the vehicle key into the key cylinder above the license plate.
3. 3. Open the hatch/trunk.

7. Repeat Step 6 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE #1.
8. Place the new transmitter in the steering column transmitter pocket with the buttons facing up and the base toward the opening facing the passenger side.
9. Press the ENGINE START/ STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the new transmitter.
10. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press Q or K on the transmitter. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 9– 10. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Bill
Do you know if i can program a 2015 key to a 2014 car? Same button configuration but different part numbers. 15 fobs are a lot cheaper than 14 for some reason.

Default fob

I know this is an old thread....just purchased a 2016 Z06. Only have 1 fob. Trying to get another one without paying $150 to the dealer. Found one on the internet but it says frequency is 434 MHz. The option code in my car says XL8-433 MHz. Part number is supposed to be 23465951, but frequencies don't match. Now I'm lost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tip.
I could not get the DIC to display any message indicating it was entering REMOTE LEARN mode.. I popped the trunk, turned the key 5 times counter-clockwise within 10 seconds but got nothing. I tried that over and over again, so many times I developed a blister on my thumb, but nothing ever appeared on the DIC..

I searched and searched online until I finally found another blog where a guy with the same problem said he solved it by repeatedly turning the key as fast as he could within 5 seconds. . I tried that and IT WORKED! I would say I turned the key at least 10 times in 5 seconds if not more. .
I then followed the rest of the steps that are the same as posted here and successfully added my eBay purchased C7 FOB..

The instructions says "Put key in trunk keyhole and turn the key five times in less than 5 seconds." not sure where you got 10 seconds from

I tried programming my key without a recognized transmitter, turned the key 5 times and nothing pops up on the DIC. I tried all kinds of things, door open and closed, trunk open and closed, nothing seems to make a difference. Am I missing anything? I found other instructions that doesn’t mention turning the key, just pressing the start button, wait 10 minutes and repeat 3 times, it doesn’t work. No matter what I do it just shows no recognized transmitter.

You can. I would do the long programming unless this is key #3. I want the memory functions so I would have to wipe out all old keys and start over. Also, I don't want the valid keys floating out there. I would get it from GM so it is their problem if there is an issue and not have to chase down someone in the other end of the country. I would suggest you make an appoint for GM to do the program using the long method. So if I have a Monday morning appointment, I can go play with doing the key in their parking lot on the weekend. If I brick the car, I don't need it towed and there is already an appointment the next day.

Hello everyone,
bOule, 65 years old, originally from the French Riviera in France who uses the translator Google and apologizes in advance!
I have a 2017 Corvette C7 grand Sport imported from California.
The seller provided me with 2 remote keys with the car, but I noticed once the car in France that the 2nd remote control did not work, and for cause, the key is not cut, and therefore the unprogrammed remote.
I tried method 1 with a remote control OK, but I can only display after the 5 keystrokes that a message see photo which means:
action required
configuration of the
remote control in progress.
please wait
I wait, even more than 10 minutes but nothing happens after that.
I wonder if my key is correct, the reference corresponds well to the original one which is 23465951 but the model registered in the new one is not quite the same:
remote control model G09CD4
new remote control model G09C04

Is this the cause of my problem?
The idea of having only one remote control stresses me out!
Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the forum! Did you start with step 6 like below screen capture? Did you remember to do step 6a in the attached? See red text. You should see "Ready for remote #3".

What year is your car? 2017 and newer require both FOB's to do short program. See note below that starts with "Also:".

You need the correct key fob number. See the chart below.

I don't know if you can order from ebay or if this vendor will ship to France - but they can cut the metal key from a picture with or without the code (code preferred, better chance of success):

1010 keys

Welcome!

Thank you for your help!
my C7 is from July 2017, and I just realized that I have to go through the long stage! it does not reassure me because at some point I have to erase my only operational remote control!
but I will not go further because I have just done the test of the location in the steering column and the message remains the same, I do not have recognition of the original remote control which fortunately works very well.
I think I only have to find a garage able to program my new key but it is not easy here in France ....

in step #3 of the below procedure, I don’t have the beep, and I don’t have the correct message?? I only have this message in picture Key Fob Programming Prep: Steering Column Slot Setup & Testing

Step 1A: Turn your Corvette off. If you have an automatic, place the transmission in park. If you have a manual, place your transmission in reverse.

Step 2A: Open the trunk/rear hatch.

Step 3A: Take the physical key out of the recognized key fob. Insert the key fob transmitter into the cupholder and the physical key into the trunk/rear hatch keyhole. In less than 5 seconds, turn the key five times.

The Driver Information Center (DIC) will now beep, light up, and display “Ready for Remote #“. The # will represent the next key fob to be added.

Talk about a needle in a haystack! I was banging my head against the wall trying to get Remote Learn mode to work. Turns out, the trick was to go super fast with the key turns - who knew? That guy's blog post saved me from losing my mind. Now my new C7 fob is all synced up and ready to roll!
