pretty sure it does void the factory warranty but Edelbrock gives you some sort of warranty that covers your powertrain

GM voids warranties for catch cans and air intakes. This one is a no brainer. You're on your own if something breaks in that power train.

my rule is generally don't buy modded cars - you could be buying someone elses headcache...unless theres tons of paperwork on professional install, tune and such.

im all for modding them myself though

Is it a dealer car? Make them give you a longer warranty, or make your offer based on no warranty.

Voiding the warranty is such a generic term.

Will you get a full warranty block for a supercharger, no. Will you lose your powertrain warranty, I'd think so. But any other non-powertrain warranty work should be covered regardless.

I have an Edelbrock E Force supercharger on my vette. Yes it voids the factory. Edelbrock supplies a 3year 36k mile full drive train warrenty. The warrenty starts from the date the car was built not from the time the supercharger was installed.
I agree with Lt1 Z51 that the non drive train parts would still be covered by the factory warrenty.

I don't think the Edelbrock warranty is transferable.

Absolutely yes, and if the dealer who's selling the car didn't know there is a supercharge on it.....RUN!!!

Edelbrock provides a warranty to the original purchaser but it isn't transferable to a subsequent owner. That alone says if you want a power train warranty on a car you are looking at don't buy the one with an aftermarket supercharger. If the price of the vehicle is reduced sufficiently to make up for the lack of the 5 year power train warranty then it might be worth making a deal but make sure you know what you are giving up and how much that is worth.

Add-on warranties are a big money maker for dealers. They may have a warranty you can buy that will cover it. GM won't.

Used high performance/sports cars are always something of a risk... unless you personally know the owner and their habits. Highly modified ones even more so. Due diligence!!!

If the car has a SC more than likely has a tune to the ecu.... The tune will void the warranty.
