Default C7Z06//C7 Flex Fuel Install

Has anyone done a write-up on how to install a DSX Flex-Fuel Sensor on a C7Z06? I have one on order and should be here soon. I have a tune appointment on the 16th and want to install beforehand. If I have tuner install it will push my appointment back approximately 6-8 weeks. Does anyone have any pointers or an article they could link me to? Thanks in advance.

PS: Mods will be kooks 2 inch long tubes to catless x-pipe to stock mufflers and an AFE Cold Air Intake with 50% E85 tune. M7, C7Z06.

Got it thanks, are you soldering/crimping the wire? Do you have any pictures of the wire at the connecting points by chance? Thanks' again!

It comes with a harness that connects between another connector for power, so you literally just unplug something and plug a connector in and it pulls power from whatever he's using. C6's used power from a coil, probably the same on C7's but I don't want to tell you wrong.

Then has another wire with an end already crimped on that will be installed to a big connector on the ECM. I'm sure Dave includes instructions or tech support.

That's it for wiring. It doesn't get any easier.

The DSX sensor comes with a pin for the ECU and the plug taps power from a coil.

Thanks

Search google and you will find an install that was posted to this forum. I used it when I installed my kit a couple weeks ago.

I don’t use a sensor or e85, at all. Ben (t/a kid) could prob help you with the flex fuel tables, I have also gotten tuning help from Chris at Crawford racing (home of the CR Fueler port injection system) and I have had GREAT results with him.

i finally got my DSX sensor back from Speed Inc. (ugh) but need the installation instructions for 2017 Z06. I did a few searches but didn’t come up with actual instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

I just had the flex fuel installed on my z06 but it looks a little awkward placed now that I look at it. I tried to find pictures and or videos to compare but didn't find any for the z and only for the Stingray. Help anyone?

Does the positioning look right in the these pics? It kinda floats and no support to hold firmly in place? I made a bracket for now and secured with a zip tie just to prevent from moving and rubbing around.

Haven't made a support for mine yet.
Getting at the ECU to hook up the pin is a PITA on a Z06

Yes it is. Some folks try to get to the connector without removing the fender. While it can be done a lot of people end up with the pin not being inserted completely or correctly. Not good.

Or you can remove the fender to ease installation of the wire to the ECM. The problem is the side "spats" are riveted to the body and the fender. SO.... drill out the rivets and remove the fender. Reinstall, line up the fender gaps, etc.

Either way it's more work than it first looks. BUT, for me, it was worth it. My Z made over 60 SAE RWHP more on E-85 than on E-10 91 octane.

Thanks for the reply guys. I know it was a PITA to install amd that's why I had a shop do it. Good to know that it hangs in space. Can you guys send me a pic of yours so I can compare? The angle just seems weird to me. Feels like it should be perpendicular to the windshield and not at an angle. Thanks.

Your angle is a little off. I installed mine straighter and parallel to the block. No big deal though

I thought so. How do you get it to be more parallel? Seems like everything is pretty much locked in with not much wiggle room.

So someone else made a bracket also. Mine was also hitting the dip stick (wet sump) so I put a wire loom sleeve and slid it over the line and put a couple wire ties on it and used that on the bracket also to keep it from having metal to metal contact. Kinda like CMEGONE, worked great and don't feel any vibration at all.

I very carefully bent the line on mine so that it sits parallel to the block
