I just went through my service manual, and it looks like you're pretty much there. You do need to remove the cross bar. The manual calls it an "Instrument Panel Tie Bar". It looks like you've got the two bolts on each end removed. There's two more bolts on the sides of the tunnel. You can get to them from here, but they're inserted from below, like the bolts on the ends were. You probably already have them out, but I figured I'd mention it just in case.
Mark the position of the cross bar before you go any further. It says you need to do this so it's properly lined up when you go to reinstall.
After that, it says you need to use a heat gun to heat up the glue that attaches it to the center tunnel. Remove the crossbar, and then remove what's left of the adhesive. When it goes back together, use aluminum panel bonding adhesive. I can look up the exact spec if you need it.
Post a photo when you get it all out. I love seeing this sort of carnage.

This is confusing. I've checked two different sources now, and this is an exact copy and paste of how it's worded:
"Apply adhesive (1) to the tunnel using Aluminum Panel Bonding (Non-Structural) Aluminum Panel Bonding (Structural) . "
So which one are you supposed to use? Structural or non-structural? The adhesive section of the book lists them separately.
The non structural stuff is:
GM OEM: 89020330
Ashland Pilogrip: 7770B
Lord Fusor: 127 EZ
The structural stuff is:
GM OEM: 12378566 (fast set)
Lord Fusor: 110B/111B (fast set)
GM OEM: 12378567 (medium set)
Lord Fusor: 108B/109B (medium set)
3M: 8116 (unspecified set)
Ashland Pilogrip: Panel 60 (unspecified set)
If it was my car, I'd probably just go with structural. But I've got zero professional experience with this stuff. So the only thing I can say with confidence is I copied and pasted from the manuals accurately

These cars today a lot of **** going on under the dash. I know when I did a the camera for the front of my car. I had to get a clip & wires from the pass side to the drivers side. That was the worse part of the job. OP good luck here on her. Robert

I am currently working on removing the cross bar and was stuck just as shown above in the thread. Going at the bar with a heat gun in the morning. I have another thread going on my C6. See below for details.
