Default Front Air Dam technical question.

On my '14 Z51 the front air dam has 3 pieces. A center piece, and 2 side pieces. I was looking at buying a '15 Z51 but I noticed the front air dam only has the 2 side pieces and no center piece. Did this change in '15? Or am I out of my mind? I have attached the 2 pictures of the front of the '15 Z51 I was looking to buy and you can see there are only 2 pieces to the air dam. One in front of each wheel.

Does anyone have a picture of what a '15 Z51 air dam is supposed to look like?

I’ve never seen a Z51 that had the center section of air damn. My 14 Z51 doesn’t have it either.

They generally only have them on these cars for fuel mileage...but it hurts downforce so the Z51 was probably removed to help balance the car and give it a bit more front downforce (just reduced lift) at speed on track.

Doesn't hurt anything to remove it as it is a front breather for the radiator.

Base cars have all 3 sections. Z51 only has the side sections per design.

This is 100% correct. Interestingly, the inner edges of the side pieces were cut on a slant on the 2014 Z51 models and were unique to the Z51. Like the OP picture. The base Stingray aero was 3 pieces as stated above, but the inner edges of the sides were vertical/squared off to mate to the center section.

In 2015+ GM commonized the Z51 side pieces with the base aero so the inner edges became vertical. They became unsightly IMO just with this detail. I know this because I owned a 2014 Z51 and now a 2015 Z51. I think the slant cut looks so much better...so I took a pair of heavy scissors and cut the inner edges of my 2015 side pieces at an angle like the 2014s. Yep.
