What are people sing for harness options in the C7? Curious how they're connecting the lap straps and such. Any pictures to share?

There are a few options. I'm using the Brey-Krause harness bar and the AMT seat bracket and sub belt bracket. There's a thread on here about seats that fit

I'm running a 6 point harness and I posted photos on that thread. It's the yellow z06 with the racetech seats.

I am using the stock Competition Seats, a shark bar and Schroth Profi II ASM belts. The Schroth ASM belts can safely be used as a 4 point belt system as they are designed to mimic how a 3 point belt system works in a crash. This action helps reduce the chance of submarining under the lap belt. The sub belts don't prevent you from submarining under the lap belt, if properly fastened they oppose the shoulder belts pulling the lap belt upward and keep it located across your pelvis where it needs to be to prevent submarining. I use the BK lap belt mounts to mount the lap belts and since the Schroth belts can also be used in a 6 point system I have a two point sub belt that can clip into the lap belt mounts. That lets me sit on the sub belts which is covered in the Schroth Competition Installation instructions under the section covering Formula restraint systems. When I run with a group that insists on sub belts I can install the sub belts although they really aren't required.

Here are some pictures of my installation:

Shark Bar:

Sub Belt Mounting:

Sub Belt and Lap Belt clipped into Mounts

The Competition Seat Belt Pass Throughs are about 4 inches lower than what you would see on a Race Seat. That means the harness bar needs to be mounted lower to account for the lower holes. The Shark Bar is mounted lower and more to the rear than the BK bar which has two belt mounting points; A lower bar for the Competition Seat and a higher bar for a Race Seat. If you plan on going to a Race Seat you might as well go with the BK bar since it covers both options. If you don't plan on going with a Race Seat then the Shark Bar will work if you are below about 5' 11" in height.

Any higher than that and you run into this problem where the belt doesn't cross the shoulders properly and the seat is interfering with the belt path.

First, the seat back is pushing down on the belt which means the seat back is now part of the restraint system which it isn't designed for. Under pressure the belt will go straight by breaking the seat back opening thus suddenly providing slack in the shoulder belt.

Second, at this height even if the seat back wasn't deflecting the belt the angle from the shoulders to the belt mounting location is more than 20 degrees below the height of the shoulders which violates Schroth's installation instructions.

Basically, once you are over a certain height the BK bar and a Race Seat are your only options if you want to use a harness. I made sure I was within the guidelines by having HMS Motorsports work with me to mock up the belt installation before I purchased the Shark Bar or lap belt mounts. Then I purchased the belts from HMS.

Bill why did you choose the push button release on the Schroth? I see they say it's street legal but I figure I'd just get the cam lock and not use the harness when street driving.
