Default C7 coolant sensor location

Hi guys,
Anyone know the location of the coolant sensor. I got a ‘14 c7 z51.

I’m getting some weird temp swings randomly when just driving on the road. Temp would swing up very quickly, sometimes to the red, then suddenly come down to normal. Seems to occur early when car just warmed up. After happening once, temps remain stable. I switched out the thermostat, but the problem remains.

Looking, I see a sensor on the thermostat housing, around the upper hose, sticking straight up. Is that it?

Thanks in advance, Peter.

Yes, pretty sure that is it. Right by the water pump manifold.

Sensor sticks straight up on the passenger side of the coolant manifold, and air intake plenum going into the intake.

While waiting for probe, I burped the system. Now, just like dealerships, I can’t replicate the problem! Lol.
Gonna see how things go, but will update if I do the swap.

Wow interesting. I have a 2014. They were changed in 2015 to a new part number, and it looks like we just found out one of the reasons the number changed lol. See if you can find any sensors on the part that i pictured on your car. Coolant sensor will be somewhere on that manifold.

Started hitting this problem on my 2016 Stingray Z51. Soon after starting normal driving, noticed coolant gauge climb from normal ~198 up to 220 then it went back down but lower; about 180.
Figured it was TSTAT failing stuck open. Although stuck open wouldn't explain the climb to 220. Anyway, I replaced it yesterday and I think I noticed it happening again.

As before, I saw it happen once soon after starting driving. Then it was stable the entire time. Weird right?

Figured I monitor it for a while and maybe replace the sensor next if it comes to it.

Curious, how did you guys resolve this?

Thanks,
Pj

A shade tree assessment is that your thermostat/cooling system is operating properly. The thermostat may be just a little lazy in opening. Unless and until you have overheating problems, I wouldn't fixate on the temperature gauge. I'm sure you've heard the old saying," If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I think that applies to this situation.

I actually thought and wondered if it happened before and just never noticed it. After noticing it once, then I got fixated on it.
Anyway, good advice. Thanks!

Old post but I also was confused on location of sensor based on prior post. Anyway, adding pics of 2016 sensor location. FYI, contrary to other information, there is no need to drain any coolant (at least on the 2016 z51). I had the no gauge temp, AC out, fans blowing, CEL problem. Replaced sensor, disconnect battery, and I'm back to 100%.

I have a 2014 corvette c7 and I'm also having problems with the high water season, can anyone tell me the code (model) of the sensor so I can buy another one?

See item #9 in the attached link. You find this stuff by looking at one of the chevy online parts outlets.

Now you know how to look this kind of stuff up yourself.

Have fun!

To really nail down the problem you need to run a scan tool and monitor engine temp and temp sensor output voltage.

Its either the sensor and or the thermostat.

I'd bet on the thermostat.

Don't use the analog needle on the dash, use the digital value on the performance screen. If you watch both, you'll see when the digital gets to about 190, the needle is just under 220.
For those experiencing the no AC/rev match control and fans running full blast, its most likely a lazy thermostat. Its a common problem that crops up mostly during colder temps. If your temp takes forever to get to 190 (like five minutes or more) your tstat is probably needing to be replaced. Its probably a good time to change the coolant also, which is an easy job too.
