i installed MBRP axle system and it has brackets to retain AFM actuators but without any actual valves. But it still throws a code and CEL comes on. I’ve cleared the code but CEL returns after a short time. Any ideas? Does the dealer just need to do the re-learning thing ?
Its throwing a code because you don't have the actuators ... and they can't be tuned out . Most just hook them up and strap them to the exhaust pipe if you don't want the valves to actually open and close
I am sure that they made the mounting bracket to make it easier than strapping them to the pipe

That's wrong. They can be tuned out now and most tuners should know how to find it. Mine are tuned out.
It doesn't need the valves to clear the CEL. The actuator just needs to be able to turn 90 degrees closed then back to open to see internal position switches , maybe they aren't turning. Turn on accessory only and try to listen for the buzzing.

Dave,
The actuators are attached to the dummy mounts on the new pipe and the wiring is connected. They are just not turning a valve cause there is no valve.

Jim not sure what's up , as long as the actuator is there it should not throw a code..

maybe Bruno can weigh in ....

‘the code is p26c8’ I read somewhere that if the the car detects they were disconnected at any time the dealer needs to cycle them through some relearning routine.

this is correct. I wrote a guide on the forum for how to do it.

Unless they changed something in later years, you heard from someone who was mistaken.

I had the CEL off for a few days cause I was driving in manual mode, today in auto it came back on as soon as V4 mode activated. I verified actuator wiring was secure. I don’t believe they could be binding cause they are just mounted to dummy bracket.
anyone ever figure this out? I have the same axle back (MBRP) and the CEL for the AFM valves tripped. The actuators are mounted to the over the axle pipes and connected but still got a code. I bought some AWE simulators just now I guess they are necessary if these codes aren't disabled by tune.

In the end one of wire connections to a valve was not fully seated. After I figured that out the CEL went out and never returned.

I'll check the connections to the actuators I remember where the mounts were located on the over the axle pipes the connectors barely reached them so maybe they came out.
