new stingray, thinking about removing the top for a little road trip tomorrow. Broke both shoulders years ago, racing. How much does it weigh, need to know if I can handle it alone. I am 6’2” not small, don’t want to drop it.
TIP - double check weatherstrip is seated properly at the back edge of the roof above the windows before latching.
Agreed. I always pull the roof down into place and check before securing the levers. Haven't had an issue yet. Being tall definitely helps a bit. You'll be able to grab the middle of the roof making it not as awkward. Make sure trunk is open before pulling it off😄 Also make sure you know how it sits in the trunk before setting it in. I wasn't sure the first time making it harder than it had to be. Now takes less than 2 minutes being careful.
On advice here I bought one of those suction on handles for moving sheets of glass etc. Clamp it to middle of roof and it helps a lot. Don't have to reach as far which your shoulder might appreciate.
Awkward is the key word. Once you've done it a few times, it's easy - but lining up the pins and making sure you don't hit the painted surfaces with the panel is key. I usually prefer to have somebody sitting in the car that can make sure it doesn't "fall through" when setting it in place.
