Default GM Performance head/cam for LT1

Was wondering if anyone has tried or know someone using the GM Performance head and cam kit for their lt1. Wondering what the advantage or disadvantages are. I'm going to assume it voids warranty even though part comes from GM themselves. Better off with after market? New to this motor and car so thanks in advance. Not looking for a track monster. Just want to gain some power for street fun.

GM part # 19333525

I saw head flow results & intake flow numbers were identical to stock. Also a car with this package + headers dynoed only 450 rwhp

IMO, head/cam package from TSP costs almost the same and gives much more proven results

Wow good to know. Thanks for the info. I have been looking up several packages between vengeance, Katech, tsp etc. came across that GM one but couldn't find much info on it.

also a good thread on camaro6 forum. may not make as much power of a larger cam,but will be easier on the valve train . will not require valve spring change every 15k or so.

That Camaro sounds great. According to his YouTube answers he hasn't had it on the dyno. No idea how he tuned it unless street tune. I wonder what he's putting out and how it drives. Can't find his forum posts.

Thanks for that link. 450 rwhp and had to have lifters and cam replaced after 10k miles. Looks like supercharger is way to go.

I saw that. That's not bad when you add a few more pieces could prob get 550 crank but the fact even if GM installs voids warranty and needs separate tune plus this guy had to change lifters and cam after 10k miles makes me feel like either a custom set up from another shop or just slap a pro charger or other centi on and be done with it. Should have 600 with super charger set up easy and I don't track or race. Just for free way fun and cruises/car shows. Thanks

if you don't mind me asking KC stingray what did you decide to go with. How is driveability and power? I'm looking for something that's easy to drive with linear power. That's why no turbos for me. Did you build up anything in the motor or tranny at all? I have been looking into different set ups. Personally if I had the cash I would go to Callaway but that's big money. Almost double what other setups run.

i went with procharger p1x kit with race inlet, and vertical intercooler. i did not want to run meth or e85. so this kit is great for pump gas at 7psi. like you not looking for a track monster, just extra power. here are a couple short videos.

my own experience with gm performance parts has been great. back in the day my over the counter built chevelle would romp on the big aftermarket builds while being a great street car. have no experience with the gm cam/head package available now. i wish my gs had the 535 motor. it would be perfect for me. . when my warranty is up and i decide to mod, if i go n.a. i will try the gm kit. if i decide to go forced induction thats a whole different story. i am not against forced induction, just really dig hi-po na engine in sports car.

My main worry is that all the power adders have tons of heat the car isn't set up to handle. Why make a road course car a drag toy?

Edgyvette ports ONLY new GM core heads by hand. Our porter has 30 years experience porting heads, including 16 year porting for Brodix. $1899 shipped for full EV STG II heads. We also sell TSP and BTR cam packages to match heads and provide lowest price on those.

I really wish the grand sport was at around 550 crank. A sweet spot between the stingray and a z06. A higher revving NA similar to the old 7.0 z motor would be cool. I'm no engine builder so no idea if it's even possible to get 550 crank out of the lt1 reliably and with good street manners. Not for drag racing but for me just to have some on ramp or freeway fun.

600 at the rear wheel and lower is safe for the lt1. procharger comes with a safe tune, or find a competent tuner who understands the lt1 powetrain. edelbrock is another option, but is a roots blower. kit also comes with a tune and runs six psi. tons of threads on this topic. do some research ,and good luck.

Supercharged yes 100% agree with you. i don't know how easy those numbers would be on na build. From what I see bolt ons can't get you to 550 crank or like 475 rwhp. Would have to build motor and have heads/cam etc. I'm going off of dyno numbers I see where stock lt1 is around 400 rwhp or high 300s. I have zero experience building motors so I could be dead wrong.
