Default Air conditioner leak

2017 Z51 with about 800 miles. So I have this greenish liquid under the engine area. Took it in to the dealer and they recharged the AC, put it on the lift and left the engine running with the AC blowing cold. They could not find a leak but added more dye in an effort to find where it was leaking from. Told me if it happened again, bring it back and they would try to diagnose. I told him that I had heard from others that this was a defective compressor and he should have one on hand before I bring it back. Was told that they would not order the part until they could definitely diagnose that as the problem. He wants me to take it back so they can look again, then maybe they'll order the part, and then it means another trip.

Although my gut tells me to find another dealer, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has had any experience with this.

Standard diagnostic procedure. There is no way to know the problem you are experiencing is due to a faulty compressor. First, the point where it leaked may indicate a different problem than the compressor. The compressor is mounted at the front of the engine, the AC condensation drain is located below and to the rear of the firewall. Where did you see the greenish liquid? At the front or the rear of the engine? Is the compressor leaking or is a hose connection to the compressor leaking? Or is the evaporator leaking? If your AC condenser located in front of the radiator took a hit from a stone thrown through the grille it could be leaking.

Once they can narrow it down they will order the compressor if they need to replace it. If you were driving a high volume car where there is a higher likelihood of them running into some sort of compressor issue due to the numbers of cars they service then they might have one in stock. However, AC compressors don't have that high of a failure rate and you are driving a low volume car. If they ordered a compressor without knowing if the original is bad they could be stuck with that compressor in their stock room for years.

Frankly speaking, I hate those portable air conditioners, it is way better to have a normal wall A/C and enjoy the cold in the room. I was using a portable unit, till a pal didn't tell me about socool.sg like they have way better quality and you take a wall A/C you will not regret because the temperature in the house is going to be perfect for you and your family. Guess what, he was right, better get rid of those portable things and install some nice A/C for the wall.

Default AC leak

I found out also that I had a AC issue. While my vette was on a lift getting some modifications put on , I notice green dye under the compressor. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the AC compressor. I only had 4800 miles and it is a 2019.

I suspect with the lack of comments about AC Compressor issues yours is an outlier. The fact that 5 of them failed probably points to a mounting issue or other AC issue Vs a compressor issue. The compressor failure may have been the symptom not the cause with your mechanics treating the symptom Vs fixing the cause.

I haven't had a GM AC compressor fail in over 13 years and that was on my 03 Tahoe. That same compressor is still providing plenty of cooling in that Tahoe that is now 17 years old.

Just got back from the dealer after starting out just to get an alignment check. '15 M7, with about 11,000 miles. Well, I guess I have an ac compressor leak...glad I have an extended warranty . While they're at it, I'm getting a brake and rear diff fluid change out...and the alignment, all, including the $100 deductible on the warranty, at around $775.00...not too bad after 5 years of service, I guess. Doing the Ranger method on the clutch myself...

Upside was this C8....can't believe they didn't offer me a test drive
